amir-khan_2167439bWhen Floyd Maywether and Amir Khan came through their latest fights on the Las Vegas card last month, it should have set the pair up for a showdown later in 2014. However, negotiations between the two parties haven’t gone well in the past which could hold up the bout once again.

Mayweather had no problems against Maidana where he extended his unbeaten record to 46 fights with the unanimous decision on points to reward Betfair backers.

Earlier in the night, Khan boosted his credentials to be the number one contender for Money’s belts with an impressive performance in beaten Luis Collazo, also by unanimous decision to justify going off as favourite with Betfair.

If the Khan fight does not come off, a match between Mayweather and IBF welterweight champion may be on the cards. This would give the number one pound for pound boxer the chance to pick up another belt at this weight.

Porter is also unbeaten and won his IBF title against Devon Alexander back in December. Since then he has defended it once with a fourth round stoppage of Paulie Malignaggi in Washington where he was favourite with Betfair for the win.

The only one blip on Porter’s record is a draw against Julio Diaz back in 2012. He has put that behind him though with four straight victories following that fight.

Boxing fans around the world have been desperate to see Mayweather take on Manny Pacquiao for a while now. The pair were close to agreeing a contract to fight each other a few years ago but since then negotiations have broken down and supporters had given up on the possibility. However, there is still some hope that it might come off.

Pacman won the WBO welterweight title in his last bout with Timothy Bradley to put himself in the mix at a shot at Money. He is though getting no younger and has two losses to his record in his last four fights.

If Maywether does decide to step up in weight later this year, a clash with Danny Garcia would be the one most people would like to happen. Swift has a perfect record of 28-0 with wins over Khan, Lucas Matthysse and Zab Judah in recent fights.

A Mayweather/Garcia contest would be big box office in the United States and the likely venue for it would be the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

All the betting for Mayweather’s next fight will be available at betfair.com.
