In a recent announcement, Kermit Cintron has signed with Top Rank. Bob Arum made the announcement at a press conference in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Cintron, born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, is a hard puncher who is rated WBO #4, IBF #7 at 154 pounds.
“Kermit can fight at either 147 pounds or 154 pounds,” said his co-manager Josh Dubin. “He was in the welterweight division for a long time when we got opportunities to fight at a higher weight, starting when we took a short-notice fight to take on Sergio Martinez at super welterweight.” Dubin and James Prince are co-managers of Cintron who has a record of 31-2-1 with 27 knockouts.
“Kermit is a big puncher with knockout power,” said chief trainer Ronnie Shields. “I’ve been with Kermit for his last five fights. He can take you out with either hand. There is a lot of excitement when Kermit gets into the ring.” Kermit said “I have loved boxing since I was a little kid. My uncle took me to the gym for the first time. I started boxing when I was around 19 years old. I had 27 amateur fights and won 23 of those. As a pro, I’ve been in a lot of big fights.” Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, said Cintron’s debut fight with Top Rank will soon be announced.
When is he actually going to fight again is what I want to know, after his little tumble out of the ring against Paul Williams this guy’s been a ghost. They should make that fight again after a couple of tune up type fights for both fighters. They can both use that kind of win right now after their last fights.
