The battle between Kelly Pavlik’s against Paul Williams has been postpone again. According to Pavlik’s hometown newspaper, the Youngstown Vindicator, Pavlik is still having problems with his left hand, which he twice had surgery on this year due to a staph infection.

jermain_taylor__vs__kelly_pavlik_press_conference_rosengarten_9_240x230_20071016“He’s trying,” said his trainer, Jack Loew, to the Vindicator. “He’s been running, he’s been trying to train in the gym. He’s trying to shadow box with one hand; hit the speed bag with one hand. … I’ve been trying to keep it a secret but it’s not going great and I’m not going to fool anybody any longer.”

The bout was originally slated for Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on October 3, and then pushed back to December 5. January 23 was mentioned as a possible new date, but no word on whether Williams’ team would accept.

Top Rank president Todd duBoef said that once Pavlik is medically cleared his organization will try to line up another bout.

  1. I liked Pavlik as well, but he just can’t handle the pressure.
Correct that Bernard Hopkins Sat Kelly in a class room and schooled him all 12 rounds, now emotionally the embarrassment can have an effect on your performance over all.

Its Funny How Taylor manages too beat Hopkins witch I think still too this day that he didn’t, but it’s over with. Pavlik takes out Taylor, and Hopkins gives Pavlik a history lesson in the class room. Styles sure makes fights.

  2. I am not sure KP will ever be the same after the Hopkins beat down and now a ton of inactivity over the last couple of years. Who knows when he will be ready again and if he fights top competition, they could blow him away. Kind of sucks, I liked Pavlik.
