Super welterweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Matt Vanda and International Boxing Federation flyweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donair, Jr. hosted a press conference at the Hyatt Regency Century in Los Angeles today to announce their explosive pay-per-view extravaganza headlined “Final Impact” Saturday, November 1 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.Son of the legendary three-division world champion Julio Cesar Chavez will risk his 38 bout unbeaten streak against Matt “The Predator” Vanda in a rematch of their controversy July 12 brawl. The question remains, will Chavez erase any doubt of who really won the fight or will Vanda put an end to one of boxing ‘s most impressive unbeaten streaks?

“He said he beat me well this is his opportunity to prove to everyone he did,” said Chavez “I don’t like what ifs that’s is why I asked for a rematch.”

Julio César Chavez Jr (37-0-1, 29 KOs) had all he could handle against Matt Vanda (36-7, 21 KOs) taking a hard fought split decision in a Jr. middleweight bout. Chavez was in command over the first half of the fight but Vanda came on strong and it was an exciting toe-to-toe war over the last five rounds. Chavez was totally gassed near the end of the fight. Scores were 97-93 Chavez, 96-95 Vanda, and a preposterous 100-90 for Chavez.

“Hopefully there is no excuses nor any family judges” proclaim Vanda “he never hurt me, this time I’m going to knock him out to leave any doubt behind”

A Local judge, Francisco Mouret rendered the outrageous 100-90 score. “I don’t know why the judge gave me every round, he probably thought he was doing me a favor but instead he started all this controversy,” stated Chavez “I really don’t know who this judge is nor I had nothing to do with this.”

Matt Vanda from St. Paul Minn. is a 12-year battle tested veteran who has never taken a step backward in the ring. Known as the “The Predator” for the way he hunts down his opponents in the ring before finishing them off, less than half of Vanda’s opponents have gone the distance against him. Like Chavez, Vanda also made his pro debut at the age of 17, winning his first 31 bouts, 21 by stoppage.

Vanda is also known for the number of fights he performs each year. Besides his previous three fights early this year, Vanda fought once again 2 days ago (09/20/08) sending his opponent to the canvas adding another prey to his resume.

“Chavez knows he got away with a gift decision from this hometown judges in our last fight,” declared Vanda “this time we will be fighting under the Nevada State athletic Commission, Chavez will have no one to hide behind this time.”

Raised in the same city as Philippine icon Manny Pacquiao, General Santos, Nonito Donaire (19-1, 12 KOs) will be making his Top Rank debut. Donaire will defend his world championship belt against South Africa’s hard-hitting Mexican style fighter Moruti Mthalane.

“I know he is a brawler and I’m ready, I know he is hungry, I’ve worked too hard to earn this title and there is no way I’m letting him take that from me,” said Donaire.

With over 8 thousand tickets at $100 or less, Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Seats are scaled at $300, $200, $100 and $50 and will be available at the Mandalay Bay box office, all Ticketmaster locations or call 702-474-4000

  1. Stop yelling man! And what the hell are you talking about?
Chavez IS FAMOUSE because of his father, he hasn’t fought no body good ever, and he has struggle with a few of them, that’s just the truth.. We need to wait and see, is too early to know if he will be great.
And second, really, who gives a crap about De la Hoya vs Pacquio?
that fight is just an event, it is a mismatch no one is exiting to see it, I’m very intrigue by it to see if Many can pull it off, but is not something that Mexicans are crazy about it, most of the true Mexican boxing fights hate De la Hoya for humiliating Chavez both times they fought.

    Checa el dato amigo!

  2. WELL PEOPLE LET ME TELL U THIS! CHAVEZ JR. IS NOT FAMOUS BECAUSE OF HIS DAD OR LAST NAME. HIS DAD WAS AND STILL IS ONE OF THE GREATES BOXERS. PEOPLE JUST KEEP TALKING ALL THIS B/S BUT THE REAL TRUE IS THAT CHAVEZ JR. DOESN’T NEED THE LAST NAME OR BE THE SON OF THE GREATES CUZ HE DID IT ON HIS OWN. COME ON PEOPLE THATS THE TRUTH EVERYONE KNOWS IT. I THINK THE GREAT THINK ABOUT CHAVEZ JR. IS THAT HE GOT HIS FATHERS RIGHT HAND AND ALL THOSE PUNCHES HE THROWS ON THE BODY. THE PEOPLE OR THE MEDIA SHOULD BE MORE FOCUS ON (MANNY PACQUIAO) INSTEAD OF CHAVEZ JR. THE PAC-MAN HAS BEAT THE GREAT FIGHTERS OF MEXICO, AND KNOW DE LA HOYA IS CANE FIGHT’EM THATS CANE BE INTERSTING,BECAUSE IF DE LA HOYA LOOSES IS CANE BE A DISGRACE FOR MEXICO AND THE U.S. SO PLEASE MEDIA AND PEOPLE STOP TALKING ALL UR B/S AND CONCENTRATE ON THE (DE LA HOYA vs PAC-MAN) CUZ FOR US MEXICANS WOULD BE A !!!!!!!!

  3. I don’t think he will do that good with better opponents the way he is fighting, be indeed he needs to start fighting better boxers so he can step up his game but they keep on trowing no ones to him and he stills struggles.

  4. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. won this one!! He had problems in later rounds. Last fight was controversy because of the judges hope it don’t happen again. .I think Chavez, Jr should be fighting better opponents.

  5. This kids now in days have everything easy, even a boxing career. They need to understand what boxing is all about, not just think that because you are the son of a great boxer you will be great too, you need to work hard for it, sweat for it, bleed for it, you have to have it in your blood and give it your all until you retire, that’s how great boxers are made and this is what this new kids need to understand, they need to go back to boxing roots, watch the old fights when it was not only about money it was about pride about being the best on the ring
