Joshua Clottey Wants Another Big Fight, What a Joke!

This is something I don’t understand and maybe you could help me understand what is going thru the mind of this boxer. Former welterweight titlist Joshua Clottey hasn’t fought since losing a lopsided decision to Manny Pacquiao earlier this year and he is not interested in taking any fight unless it is for a big pay day.

His promoter Bob Arum was quoted saying, “Clottey is looking for a fight but he doesn’t want to fight for less than half a million.”

Clottey’s purse against Manny Pacquiao was $1.25 million and he got roughly an additional $1.2 million for pay-per-view buys but c’mon, we all know it was Manny Pacquiao who was able to generate such high numbers so why is he acting like he is too good to fight for less?

It was embarrassing to see Clottey in the ring with Pacquiao when all he did was stand there, afraid to throw a punch. Do you really think I am going to fork out another $59.99 to see him in the ring? No doubt it was Clottey’s biggest paid day but I think he lost more than just losing to Pacquiao.

Would you pay to see Joshua Clottey on Pay-Per-View again?

  1. Hell yeah lets find out if Canelo is overrated or not. I think that fight would be a great test or could be a show that he is really all hype.

  2. That actually sounds like it would be pretty interesting and yeah if it did go down hbo would be the way to go cuz I sure as hell wont fork over any money to watch him block another 12 rounds.

  3. how about a clottey and berto. free on hbo. clottey will never get that chance he wants. he is a boring fighter and a human punching bag. i will never pay money to see this guy fight. so it better be free or he is done….

  4. Clottey is going to have to prove himself if he wants the big bucks. Chaves is a good fight but I dont think its the test he needs.maybe a rematch with margarito?

  5. I agree with you except for that part about cotto. clottey landed a few combos that made him look good, But other than that I didnt see anything that would tell me he won that fight. He would try to act like he was the aggresser for a minute, but then he would freeze. He did exactly the same thing with Pacquiao. You cant take a half round off here and there unless you’re dominating a fight (Which clottey did not do by any meens). In my opinion clottey fought like a scrub, Head butts, elbows, trying to hold cotto and getting thrown to the canvas like an idiot. Clottey is a very good fighter but he gets outworked by better champions.

  6. This is the perfect guy for JC Chavez to fight. You have to admit that it would atract interest, no ? It would be like do or die for both.

  7. I think the amount of money that he is asking for
is commensurate with his status.Although he lost
against manny ,he still a tough opponent for any boxer out there.
He is not a walk in the park .Maybe he is not as good as manny or Margarito ,yet he is a formidable boxer and hurt his opponent as we all
see with manny .He just needs to improve his offense a bit .
I think that he was ropped big time when fighting
    cotto .
Please correct me if I am wrong !

  8. Clottey had more than one chance to impress the fans, And he failed every time. He came up short with margarito. In the cotto and pacquiao fights he did ok when he threw punches, But then he would stop throwing punches and just stand there. Apparently clottey has a fear of getting knocked out, which keeps him from nuckling up at the most important times of a fight. He has lost all his biggest fights. Its as simple as that.

  9. Clottey, is a kind of Boxer like my KIckboxing Fighter before that he fight only for the money even he has no capacity & ability to fight against a high caliver boxer / fighter.

  10. @Jonny-Boy I agree, he blew his opportunity, I wouldn’t care if he lost, but if he tried to give his fans a decent fight to me that’s worth more. For example Yuri Foreman he had his leg out, but he continue to fight That’s a true warrior.

  11. What a joke, he had his chance to at least make it competitive and worth my hard earned money but did nothing but try to survive, didn’t make it exciting he stood there with his arms up and didn’t throw anything. It was clear to me all he wanted to do was survive the twelve rounds with Pac but in the fashion he did it in was a bore and a disgrace for a big chance. Even if he got tko’d or flat out ko’d at least he would have tried. In my opinion I see the best he can hope for is a fight in HBO or Showtime. Cuz he blew his ppv chance in an embarassing display.
