Nothing has been signed yet but it seems that the new WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (33-1, 27KO) will return to the ring of the legendary Madison Square Garden on June 13th in a unification bout against the IBF champ Joshua Clottey (35-2, 20KO).
The winner will unify both titles and provide with a solid opponent for the current WBA strap holder Shane Mosley by the end of the year. The other champion of the division holding the green WBC belt is Andre Berto.
Cotto captured the vacant WBO belt stopping in five rounds the U.K.’s Michael Jennings on February 21st in New York. Joshua Clottey defeated in eight rounds Zab Judah last August 2nd to win the IBF title in Las Vegas.
Cotto and Clottery, who will dominate the welterweight division?
A must see boxing fighting on Saturday @ the garden. 🙂
cotto is too polished for joshua clottey but he is no match against manny the pacman pacqiao!
miguel cotto wins via 8th round knock out! i have a bet with my wife,s younger brother who is a fan of clottey so cotto better win! cotto is too skilled for josh! but he is not good enough for manny the pacman pacqiuao!
Peace it’ll be a good fight. I can’t say who will win though, because both of these fighters are very well rounded, but Cotto has not shown me that his defense is great when it comes to him fighting busy preasuring opponents, and Clottey has shown defense, but I’ve seen him tire out in the latter rounds and I have seen an injury to his right hand slow him down dramatically. This could easily become a problem for Clottey. If Clottey can overcome these obsticles and he stays mega busy he can get a UD, possibly. If he doesn’t get past his own issues, he will lose and Cotto may even get the stoppage when it otherwise would be a SD or UD. Peace

Bigboiboricua I agree on the cotto victory, however cotto wins in the 8th round. I always saw cotto as a very skilled boxer and on this fight that is exacly what he is going to show all boxing fans BOXING SKILLS. I take cotto on that fight and belive me I know is a very hard fight for cotto but I know we will see perfect footwork, beautiful combos to the head, and body. Clottey will not keep up with cottos speed, strenth, and great boxing work in the ring. ko 8 no further than 9
I’m sorrry clottey fans but my man cotto wins by wide UD… too smart of a fighter to try to go toe to toe, he learned not to do that from the margacheto fight, regardless it’ll be a good fight
clottey is too strong for cotto to hurt. tight defense and strong chin. cotto defense has always been bad. for clottey to win, he has to be very busy with his hands. i am going to really make money on this fight because i see clottey giving cotto pressure and destroying his face once again.
joshua will teach miguel cotto boxing lessons
