Josesito Lopez posted on his twitter and facebook account that he verbally agreed to fight Marcos Maidana but he is still waiting for his contract. The rumor was the fight was supposed to take place April 20th at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, CA, but apparently fall apart.

The highlight of Josesito’s career came in 2012 when he broke Victors Ortiz’s jaw to stop him in eight rounds then signing on to fight “Canelo” Alvarez. Maidana on the other hand, had an up and down time last year. He was sorely outclassed against Devon Alexander last February losing widely on points. He rebounded with a thrilling finish in a rousing war against Jesus Soto Karass.

A fight between Josesito Lopez and Marcos Maidana is definitely a fight I want to see.

In other boxing news

Since we’re talking about rumors, sources have indicated that Mike Alvarado has signed on to fight Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao has yet to sign but is expected to. Brandon Rios was one of the front runners to land the Pacquiao fight but the loss to Alvarado seems to have derailed that train.

I reached out to Alvarado’s Team and they responded with:

“As far as I know we’re as good as the next guy to get that fight. I think Manny will make a decision by end of the week or beginning of next. He’s the shot caller.”

If this fight does happen…. It’s going to be Word War 3.
