Jorge Barrios, who was talking on his cell phone on January 24, 2010 while driving his BMW SUV, reared ended another card which ran over group of people killing 20-year-old Yamila González, who was six month pregnant at the time, was sentenced to four years in jail yesterday. Yamila’s mother and other family members suffered minor injuries.
The lawyer for Yamila González’s family had requested a 12 year prison sentence while the prosecutor requested a 3 and a half year prison sentence on charges of manslaughter.
Barrios was supposed to fight Erik Morales in December of that year but was forced to withdraw after a judge in Argentina would not allow Barrios to leave the county.
Personally, I think 4 years is not enough. How would you feel if that was your wife and baby this punk killed? Barrios also fled the scene but turned himself in 5 hours later .
I love boxing but sometimes these boxers think their unstoppable. Famous or not, everyone should be given the same sentence across the board.

I wish the punk would get more time, after all it’s his irresponsible behavior that not only took a life but two. Her being 6 months pregnant that’s also a life growing inside of her and that should be taken into strong consideration. I can’t stand those who talk or text while driving it’s an annoying habit that can lead to tragic things such as this. Not only are these people risking their own lives with the lack of attention but of those around them as well.
