Source Fightnews: In a clash for the vacant IBF super flyweight title, unbeaten Simphiwe Nondqayi (16-0, 6 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Jorge “Travieso” Arce (52-5-1. 40 KOs) on Tuesday night at the Plaza de Toros in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Nondqayi was extremely sharp as he effectively countered the aggressive Arce. Arce showed his warrior’s heart and kept coming, but this was Nondqayi’s night. Scores were 117-112, 116-112, and 117-111. There were several delays as rain water that leaked from an overhead canopy had to be removed from the ring at the outdoor venue. The bout was a grudge match as Nondqayi had previously defeated Arce’s brother and “Travieso” had vowed vengeance.

WBC super featherweight champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto (49-7-2, 32 KOs) scored a wild second round TKO over previously unbeaten Aristides Perez (15-1-1, 8 KOs). Both fighters went at it toe-to-toe in round two with Soto rocking, and then flooring Perez. Perez beat the count, but the bout was waved off by referee Florentino Lopez. The time was 1:21. It was Soto’s third successful defense.

Former IBF light flyweight champion Ulises “Archi” Solis (29-2-2, 20 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over Dirceo Cabarca (7-4, 3 KOs). Solis dropped Cabarca in round two with a left to the head and again in the sixth with a right hand on the jaw. Cabarca showed good recuperative powers and kept battling despite the two knockdowns. Scores were 80-70 on all cards. It was Solis’ first fight since losing his world title against Brian Viloria in April.
