Jorge “Travieso” Arce (52 -5-1, 40 KOs) and Humberto “Zorrita” Soto (48-7-2, 31 KOs) met the press Friday in advance of Tuesday night’s big fight card at the Plaza de Toros in Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Arce meets Simphiwe Nongqawi in an IBF super flyweight title clash and Soto defends his WBC super featherweight crown against Aristides Perez (15-0-1, 8 KOs). Here’s what they had to say.

20090911arce001Jorge Arce: “I have a thorn, and I’ll get revenge for the defeat that my brother had against South African Simphiwe Nongqawi,” said Arce. “Since he’s retired from boxing and now I will retire Nongqawi. That loss touched me most deeply, and I will avenge my brother. He had many plans to be world champion, but now I am going to defeat this South African to take his dream away….I come well prepared to defend my IBF super flyweight belt.”

Humberto Soto: “We are prepared to make people happy, we have prepared the best we can.”

Tickets (200-2,000 pesos) are on sale in the various Samborns Malls in Cancun, the Drugstore Paris on Yaxchilan Avenue, at the box office of the Plaza de Toros and at the offices of the Quequi newspaper.
