Joel Julio of Colombia believes that he has enough power to finish off with WBO interim super welterweight champion Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo next April 24th at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.
Julio is preparing for the face off with his new team captained by his new trainer Anthony Hamm.
“I am giving 100% to my training because I want to take that title, this is one of the best opportunities that has been given to me,” Julio stated. Julio is coming off a six round decision win over Clarence Taylor in Miami, FL.
“Everybody says that Alfredo Angulo is strong but Julio is too and perhaps even more,” Anthony Hamm said. “He has more movement than Angulo inside the ring and that is something we know how to take advantage of.”
Julio has fought for a title once before when he faced the full fledged super welterweight WBO champion Sergiy Dzinziruk who defeated him by points on November 1st of 2008 in Oberhausen, Germany.
“We are working on ‘El Perro’ to take the most amount of punishment possible,” Julio explained. “It is important to be moving constantly and from there connect with our best combination. We know we have to will to win this title.”
Julio did not dare to predict an ending to the contest but he was confident on his hand being raised at the end of the twelve rounds or sooner.
“I am ready to fight for the twelve rounds and I feel very quick and strong that is why I hope to end the fight sooner,” Julio stated. “That is what I want although I know that it won’t be easy because Angulo has a lot of experience.”
