gonzalez_195Tomorrow morning, the purse bid for the WBC super bantamweight title is being held at the World Boxing Council’s offices in Mexico City.  The two-featured fighters for said title bout are Japan’s Toshiaki Nishioka and the hometown challenger Jhonny Gonzalez.  Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions is present in the capital city of Mexico in hopes of ensuring an agreement were the title fight is held in either Mexico City or Los Angeles.

Today will be the when Gomez and Japanese promoter Akihiko Honda will negotiate the venue of the twelve round clash.  If no agreement is met, the purse bid will decide the championship city.

“Of course it will be a great satisfaction for me to fight in either Mexico or the U.S.  Eric told me the fight could take place in Mexico City, Ciudad Juarez, Los Angeles or Las Vegas but I have to go to Japan, that is where we will go for the title,” Gonzalez stated.

If the fight goes to purse bid, Nishioka will pocket 70% and Jhonny 30% of the monies.  Golden Boy Promotions will make their offer as well as Reginaldo Kuchle who represents Gonzalez in Mexico as well as Honda.

GBP offered Mr. Honda for the bout to take place on the May 2nd fight card where Manny Pacquiao will do battle Ricky Hatton but the Japanese refused the offer since he is determined for the fight to be the main event ensuring him the television rights in Japan.
