Three time world champion Israel Vazquez hosted a medial telephone conference call today to share a major announcement.
Vazquez won two of three bouts in one of boxing’s greatest trilogies against fellow Mexican Rafael Marquez. The duo faced off three times and clocked in twenty-five of the most frantically violent rounds the sport has seen was forced to a 15 month lay off due to a retina surgery.
Today Vazquez was happy to announce his return to the ring. He was given the green light to fight again by the California State Athletic Commission. Â Although an opponent was not mentioned it, was definently great news for any boxing fan.
“I am happy to be able to fight again because that’s what I love to do,” said Vazquez. “It was difficult at times not knowing if I would ever fight again but thank God everything went well.”
