After nearly twenty years in the boxing ring, Amir Khan’s career has come to a crossroads. Following a comprehensive defeat to Kell Brook, the English welterweight has suggested that it may be time to hang up his gloves.

The first talk of Amir Khan’s retirement emanated from the camp in the wake of that loss but there are conflicting stories relating to his next move. While the fighter himself seems subdued, his promoter has claimed that talk of retirement is premature and that the 35 year old is plotting revenge.

Taking on an Old Adversary

Amir Khan has an option to take up a rematch clause which would see him take on Kell Brook once again. It’s a plausible move and one that would offer the quickest return to the ring but it must also be something of a risk.

A follow up defeat to Brook would surely leave Khan with nowhere to go. His best days in the ring are behind him and a loss in any rematch is likely to bring the curtain down on that career.

Any betting markets for that rematch are likely to put Kell Brook down as the heavy favorite. The best place to confirm that is at Arabianbetting.com where the best boxing betting sites for 2022 will have a comprehensive list of markets.

As soon as odds for Amir Khan, Kell Brook, or any other boxer are confirmed, the markets will fill up and the list of dedicated bookmakers will list their pricing. In the days leading up to the event, Arabianbetting.com will adjust the figures to reflect any changes as and when they come in.

There will also be news stories and opinion posts to consider while anyone who may wish to bet on boxing can do so from here. All of the sports betting companies mentioned on the site are accepting new customers and most will offer a welcome package as an incentive.

There should also be additional promos for the life of that account while fast help facilities, a choice of deposit and withdrawal options, plus mobile betting are among the other advantages.

As soon as Amir Khan declares his next move, this will be a place worth checking out but is a rematch with Kell Brook really in his sights?

Alternative Fights

If Amir Khan wants to take a risk and aim big, Kell Brook is his best, and possibly only option. At the age of 35 and with his best fighting years behind him, it’s unlikely that Khan will have the time or the inclination to work his way back up through the ranks.

A number of promising young boxers would want to take him on, most probably so they could say that they have brought the curtain down on Amir Khan’s career. That’s not a scenario that a former World Champion would relish at the tail end of his time in the ring.

Where Does Amir Khan go next?

While there are some conflicting reports in the media, the majority of current stories suggest that Amir Khan will fight on. If that is the case, it’s most likely that he will seek a rematch with Kell Brook. Promoter Ben Shalom is clearly of the opinion that this is the logical next step for his man.

The issue with that route is that Brook may want to look elsewhere. It’s a mandatory clause but anything can happen and he may well be seeking a bigger challenge.

It’s not as though Brook has too many options: He’s been beaten by Crawford and Spence, the two best fighters in the welterweight division so he would also need to work his way back up through the ranks.

For Amir Khan, it’s a case of taking the best possible fight on offer and that’s likely to be the rematch with Kell Brook. For Brook himself, he will feel that he has nothing to prove against Khan and would probably wish to look elsewhere for his next bout.

His options in that respect may, however, be limited with no obvious alternatives. With talk of retirement beginning to ease, Amir Khan may have one final chance to show the boxing world that he remains relevant.
