This Saturday, June 26th, the undefeated eldest son of a Mexican legend, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (41-0-1, 30 KOs) takes on John Duddy in the main event of “Latin Fury 15″ in a big pay per view card at the Alamodome, TX.
With out any doubts, this will be the 24-year-old prospect’s toughest opponent to date. The good news is that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is being trained by Freddie Roach. The bad news is that Chavez has only had four full weeks with Roach. I think is not enough time to learn.
“He’s doing alright,” Roach told RingTV.com. “He’s trying to do the moves I’m showing him but it’s not coming easy. He’s done things his way for 42 fights. He’s not going to get everything I show him in just three or four weeks,” Roach also said. “It’s been difficult to get it out of him. He wants to fight like his dad, who was 5-foot-7. It’s like he doesn’t realize that he’s almost 6-foot-1.”
With that being said, I am predicting an upset not only because he hasn’t fully been trained, but because Chavez doesn’t know how to use his jabs or use his height to his advantage. John Duddy is a brawler and he is going to attack and pressure.
Chavez started his training camp late due to work visa issues and was 20 pounds over the contracted weight (160 pounds) when he first started training. By the recent workout pictures, Chavez looks solid and I don’t think weight will be an issue but I still think he doesn’t have what it takes to pull it off.

well chavez jr ,I think he had a good fight tonight he was in good shape he fought twelve strong rounds he look better than ever I hope he keeps training hard.
Let’s go Jr let’s see what ur made of!!!
Well since he’s training with Roach, Roach might have already given him an advice not to call out Manny because he’s not that ready and he’s not the one who can defeat the P4P king. Remember, Roach is genius when it comes to training fighters.

I agree but stayed tuned for the post fight interview.
He’s not worthy enough to call out Manny Pacquiao. Period.
I think that loosing would be a learning experience for him. We’ll have to wait till Saturday to see what magic Freddie Roach worked on this kid.
If he wins, I hope he doesn’t call out Manny Pacquiao. Keep your fingers crossed.
Well his body looks more than ready than before, I’m not sure if he’s skills are ready, but we will know soon.
I think he will win this fight, and it’s true it’s about time he steps up in opponent quality, but I don’t think he is ready and wont be ready to fight Sergio Martinez, or Miguel any time soon.
Let’s see If he is able to put on a good show next weekend and also how much was he able to change or learn from Roach in this short period (if any), then we can talk about who he should fight next.
But if he comes out winning like he did last time, or loosing; there should be no chance of a big fight anytime soon for him.
“It’s been difficult to get it out of him. He wants to fight like his dad, who was 5-foot-7. It’s like he doesn’t realize that he’s almost 6-foot-1.” – Freddie Roach
If Jr. will not listen and do his own thing during the fight he’ll end up losing and get his ass kicked. This is the time he needs to prove that he’s worth watching. Time to prove he belongs to the sport.
I agree its about time he fights a worthy opponent.
I hope he doesn’t get his ass kicked!!!
I agree that four weeks is no enough time to get fully trained by Freddie Roach and get the results they both want. It’s about time Chavez takes on a formidable opponent like Duddy. I hope it’s a great fight.
