I Will Make Him Pay With My Fists!

Undefeated super bantamweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez of Puerto Rico will defend for the third time his WBO strap on April 25th in the main event of “Champion Vs. Champion” against the bantamweight champion of the same organization, the Filipino Gerry Peñalosa.  The fight card will be promoted byTop Rank and PR Best Boxing Promotions which will take place at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon and broadcast by HBO.

This will be the first HBO telecast from Puerto Rico in the year 2009 and the first that Juan Manuel Lopez is featured as the main event.

“Peñalosa has said that I haven’t fought anybody but he has forgotten that I defeated by ko in the first round the man that beat him, Daniel Ponce de Leon,” Lopez stated in an interview with the newspaper Primera Hora. “I am not too worried of what he says since on April 25th, I will make him pay with my fists.”

Lopez has one his last three bouts in the first round which began when he stopped Ponce de Leon to capture the WBO title, Cesar Figueroa came next and two months ago he stopped Sergio Medina of Argentina.

“The work that PR Best Boxing and Top Rank has been excellent.  If the fight is close, to have the fans cheering will give me extra motivation.  I will not let the crowd get to me since I have an opponent in front of me,” Lopez stated.

Peñalosa, who in his last bout defeated by unanimous decision German Meraz in Cebu, was the super flyweight WBC champion and now holds the WBO 118 lbs. title.
