gamboa20first20tryYuriorkis Gamboa (13-0, 11 KOs) scored a tenth round TKO over Roger “Speedy” Gonzalez (27-3, 18 KOs). Gonzalez briefly dropped Gamboa in round two, but the knockdown only served to wake up the heavy-handed Gamboa, who was right back on the offensive and dominated the bout until referee Robert Byrd rather suddenly stopped the bout with 0:48 remaining in the final stanza. Gamboa’s, who was a 2004 Olympic gold medallist, is expected to fight for the WBC interim featherweight championship in his next bout. The fight took place at Terrible’s Primm Valley Casino Resorts in Primm, Nevada.
