The Super-6 tournament just took a huge snag. Mikkel Kessler, who had to withdraw due to an eye injury is the second to leave the tournament and has the 5 remaining contenders wondering what will happen. Allen Green, Jermain Taylor’s replacement and the man who was to face Kessler is the only fighter without a dance partner.
Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell who were set to face each other will also be fighting for the WBC Championship that was left by Kessler. If Ward gets through Dirrell, it is mandated that he face the winner of Carl Froch versus Arthur Abraham.
This is an ideal situation for this great tournament that has unfortunately hit several snags. If Showtime feels it necessary to provide Allen Green with a date regardless of his lackluster performance, which would be the right thing to do considering he was guaranteed a date should be aired as an undercard of one of the semi-finals.
Since the beginning, I’ve said Andre Ward will be the winner of the tournament. I still support that statement but believe that Dirrell will be his toughest fight. Dirrell is fast and slick as well as a good friend of Ward. Ward must put the friendship aside and continue to control the fight as he has in the past.
I also believe that Arthur Abraham beats Carl Froch. Froch is an entertaining fighter but Arthur Abraham is a force. Also, it an Abraham-Ward Championship would be a great fight, whether or not it is in Europe of the United States. It also allows Showtime to match Dirrell and Froch again (if possible) at a neutral site. There first fight led to a debatable win for Froch who fought at home. A neutral site may allow for any if’s and but’s to be put aside. It would be a great way to end an incredible Super-6 tournament.
Perfectly Agreeable Allen Green does not deserve to be involved any further into this tournament put him on the undercard and let these great fights begin pretty excited to see Dirrell and Ward as well as Abraham and Froch
They should dump Allen Green since he has zero points and showed no interest in wanting to win the tournament. Let the remaining four fighters continue…
I agree that if Green fights again, it should be an undercard fight that does not affect the tournament.
I agree with the above scenarios!
Let the tournament continue!!!!!!!
