NOTTINGHAM, England (AP)—Carl Froch has retained his WBC super middleweight title with a split-decision victory over Andre Dirrell in the second fight of the Super Six World Boxing Classic super middleweight tournament.
Froch (26-0, 20 KOs) barely won the messy fight, earning 115-112 margins on two of the three judges’ scorecards while fighting in his hometown
against Dirrell, the previously unbeaten U.S. bronze medalist.
Dirrell (18-1) used his superior speed from the opening bell to dance away from Froch’s power, but Froch kept wading forward and attempting to brawl through Dirrell’s defense. Dirrell was deducted a point in the 10th round for holding.
The fight didn’t get under way until well after 2 a.m. Sunday morning at the Trent FM Arena.

Froch was so extremely- disgustingly- arrogant as seemed his girlfriend and, in my humble opinion, neither have anything whatsoever to back their gigantic ego’s up- no skill or looks. Dirrell is faster and actually has skill- he is just young and needs more big time experience. Hopefully, fans will see more of him and his classy girlfriend in the future! ~no, I do not know any of them-just a boxing fan.
Hey Edgar, how are you, your still doing a great job with this site keep up the good work.
However, Andre Ward is going too too win this tournament, and here’s why.
He has more skilled then any of the fighter in this event. If you think about it Arthur Abraham, Mikkel Kessler, and even that Bum Froch most of their fights have been in Europe they never really have been tested as much here in the united states even though they might have come down here a few times but still doesn’t make them legitimate.
Arthur Abraham too his credit has lots of power a great deal of it but he can’t box’s I haven’t seen any skills from him at all, and he doesn’t move his head at all. When he faces a real boxer who can fight he will not last that long, besides Jermain Taylor he was damage good from the beginning, he should have never been in this tournament in the first place. Even though I was I picked him too beat Abraham just because of his skills. But I was wrong because He’s been knocked out twice already quite violently.
Mikkel Kessler another fighter who doesn’t move his head quite Robotic,
most European fighters have that basic fundamental stiff movement, and yes he too display power as well to his credit, but he too slow, for Andre Ward.
And as for Carl Froch, we all know that he can not box’s so I won’t go ther.
Its a shame that he has too fight dirty too get his way especially when he’s in trouble. the holding of the back of the head and the Rabbit punches as well, he does numerous times too opponents very cheap and sneaky. He lucky that he can get away with that in England but he will never dare try that with Ward in the U.S.
I find that style of his really cowardly and theirs no excuses for it. it shows that you lack the skills of a real true fighter.
An American is going too win the Tournament, and that Andre Ward.
@Mr. Brown I agree, Andre Dirrell performance SUCKED! he kept running. Carl Froch is a brawler and because he kept chancing Dirrell it was embarrassing I too will him in back of the head.
Now, I don’t agree that Andre Ward will win the tournament I think Arthur Abraham will take it.
I can say in this fight…..Dorel did not do himself any favors for backing up a lot in this fight, but at least he can box’s.
Carl Froch is dirty Bum, he can not box’s at all he kind of reminds me of a Mayorga, absolute garbage. What do you expect over sea’s highway Robbery. You have a Referee watching Carl froch hitting Andre Dorill in the back of the head numerouse time and not take away a point. They are shielding a guy who can’t box at all, what a shame. Bullshit.
I can tell you who’s going too win this tournament, because of his style and well discipline. That’s Andre Ward. No one is going too beat him.
