Special Fundraiser for Pimentel Family
The “Chatter Box” is helping to spread the word about THIS Sunday’s fundraiser with a KO group of champions uniting together to help the Pimentel family. The event will take place in San Bernardino at the World Boxing Council (WBC) Legends of Boxing Museum.
Former fighter Jose Pimentel’s (brother of Jesus “Little Poison” Pimentel) granddaughter Missy has rare tumors on both optic nerves and has permanent damage to her left eye with a second tumor and partial blindness in her right eye. She will need training with a guide dog, chemotherapy, etc. and their insurance is pending with no guarantee. As you can imagine, these soaring costs have impacted her family.
Now you can help and be in their corner! I encourage you to join a team of prizefighters who will lend their support at this weekend bash hosted by Bill and Linda Young and the WBC Legends of Boxing Museum (Jaime Ochoa and Angel Ochoa). There will be free admission, free food, live music and entertainment, prize raffle and a “Meet & Greet” with the sluggers. Please support and join the champs at this “Fight for Sight” on SUNDAY, APRIL 19.
Scheduled to attend are former and current prizefighters including Jesus Pimentel, former WBC champ Israel “Magnifico” Vasquez, Victor Castro, California Boxing Hall of Famer Tiger Smalls, Prince Tiger Smalls, Edwin Sandoval, Ruben Navarro, Armando Muniz, Oscar Muniz, John Montes, Herman Montes, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Ruben Navarro, Emanuel Medina, Pete Duran, Supreme Boxing representatives, author/historian Gene Aguilera, boxer/actor Abel Fernandez (“The Untouchables”), trainer Clemente Medina, and many more.
The teenager and her family need all the support they can get as her father is being deployed soon.
“Help is needed for the Pimentel family! Missy, age 16, is losing her sight due to rare tumors. UCLA and CH can’t help and hoping for help in Boston,” one of the show organizer’s Linda Young (National Boxing Hall of Fame) tells me. “Missy is now blind in left eye with very little vision in right eye.”
There will be autographs and plenty of photo ops. The day will also feature a Johnny Cash tribute by singer/musician Drew Young and the Walking Phoenixes band, along with a chance to win boxing souvenirs and gift items in the fundraising raffle.
There will be support from the Los Angeles-area fighters, the Inland Empire boxers and also some special out-of-town guests.
San Diego’s father-son duo of Tiger Smalls and Prince Tiger Smalls confirmed to me today that they will be there as well as boxing manager Jesse Martinez and his Phoenix fighter Victor “El Niño” Castro.
Be there to support this young teenager with the proceeds helping Missy as she continues her brave battle against blindness!
