Rumor is current WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel will defend his title against former champion Christian Mijares in September. Mijares has lost 3 of his last 6 fights. He was knocked out by Vic Darchinyan in 2008 and lost back to back decisions to Nehomar Cermeno.
Mijares most recent victory was against Francisco Arce, brother of Jorge “El Traviso” Arce. There’s also rumor that Fernando Montiel might be facing Nonito Donaire of the Philippines either in November or December, not sure if his planning to use Mijares as a tune up fight.
I personally rather see Montiel take on Donaire. What’s your opinion?

I’d love to see a Montiel-Donaire slugfest. Hell I’d even buy the fight if it was on Top Rank Pinoy Power PPV. I hope its on Showtime or HBO though.
