Four-time world heavyweight champion Evander “The Real Deal Holyfield (43-10-2, 28 KOs) scored an eighth round TKO over Frans Botha (47-5-3, 28 KOs) on Saturday night in front of just over 3,000 fans at the Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas.
Holyfield started slow, but become more aggressive as the rounds when on. Holyfield landed a stunning right hand in the eight round to knock out the “white Buffalo” that was enough for referee Russell Mora to waive it off.
“It’s been an honor for me to be here and fight against a great champ like Evander Holyfield,” Botha said during the post-fight presser. “Evander is a true warrior. He landed the shots. He capitalized on my mistakes. I don’t feel ashamed losing to a great champion.”
With the victory, Holyfield fulfilled his promise to win another world title and doesn’t appear to be ready to retire anytime soon.
“When people talk it does affect me,” Holyfield revealed. “When someone calls you old and says you’re senile it does have an effect on me even though I don’t show it. The most important thing is my faith that I have in God allowed me to close my ears and keep pressing forward. I’ve been telling everyone since 1992 I would be undisputed champ.”

Yeah, it’s better for Evander to hang his gloves now. He have had his share of success in boxing and he got nothing else to prove. Let the new breeds of boxers do thier thing.
BTW – Congratulations to Evander!
TijuanaBoxing: I agree 100%. I seriously doubt any boxing commision in the USA would license him again. Besides I don’t think either of the Klitschko brothers would waste their time.
It’s suicide for Holyfield to go against aether of the klitshkos, at 47 Holyfield could get really hurt, then again a miracle could happen and he could end up dethroning The Champ, but I think the risk is to high to find out, retire for good man, you had a great career, nothing more to prove, you still have your health when others don’t, that is much important than a few belts.
