Hundreds of Historic Collectibles Available to Public
With the holidays quickly approaching, what better gift to get your favorite boxing fan than real collectibles and historic mementos from the personal collection of former prizefighter Evander Holyfield?
Well, folks, the good news is if you have oodles of cash to spare, there’s a one-stop shopping place just for you!
Here’s a special look from the “Chatter Box” of some of the items going up for auction TODAY, Friday, November 30 at the prestigious Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. The famed auction house will be presenting “Property from the Collection of Evander Holyfield” Exhibition and Auction beginning Friday. Session I begins this morning and Session II will commence at 2 PM Pacific Time through the day until all the lots have been sold.
And just what’s up for bid? Hundred upon hundreds of coveted items owned by the heavyweight champ can be yours–if your bid is top dollar.
I had the chance to tour the spacious rooms that house this impressive gathering of the Georgia warrior’s prized goods, both in and out of the ring. In the news recently, it has been reported that about 12-20 items have been held back from sale after the former world titlist won a ruling by a federal judge to have the items (including his Olympic medal) blocked from the auction.
But the Olympian known as “Real Deal” Holyfield, 50, has amassed so many trophies, championship belts, artwork, boxing gloves, posters, and more that it is a veritable boxing museum that you will find at Julien’s.
I saw everything from fight-worn hand wraps to diamond cufflinks with an “EH” monogram to an Olympic blazer to shoes to mouthpieces to autos and so much more. There are satin robes that take you back to his early fights, gloves from previous bouts and shiny belts earned by the beloved pugilist who had 44 victories with 29 knockouts during his illustrious career as a pro.
The public can take a peek at all the items up for grabs today so if you’re near the 90210 area code, be sure to check out this auction that is a true sports collectors’ dream.
There are approximately 450 various treasures up for auction, going home with the highest offers. And if the bids are in your price range, you can be the fortunate new owner of many historic items once owned by the one and only Evander Holyfield.
But if your wallet is on the lean side like the majority of us, take a look at some of my snapshots from my visit to Julien’s Auctions.
Good luck to all the bidders!
