The Mexican warrior has won two fights in a row since returning from a 2½-year retirement in March and now Erik Morales’ comeback will continue. Morales will fight on December 18 against Jorge Barrios at the Caliente Racetrack in his hometown of Tijuana, Mex.
Morales, who demolished Willie Limond in six rounds last month, said he has begun
training.
“Just as I did in my previous fights, I will be in perfect condition for this fight,” Morales said. “I want to put on a great show for my fans in Tijuana this coming December.”
Morales vs Barrios will be at a catch weight of 138lbs. Morales, 34, will be defending his obscure WBC Silver light welterweight title against Barrios. If victorious, Morales still dreams of a fight against Juan Manuel Marquez for 2011.
Barrio is back in action after wining a ten round unanimous decision against Wilson Alcorro. It is rumored that Barrios is in need of funds as he is currently involved in a legal battle. Barrios is accused of aggravated homicide for the death of 20-year-old pregnant woman, Jamie Gonzalez, and negligent minor injury caused to the victims mother and two other girls who were traveling in a car hit by Barrios while speeding and running a red light earlier this year.
I don’t see the usefullness of the silver championships. It just adds to the lists of champions. Max Kellerman says it best when he names them ‘belt holders’. Erick needs to retire simply because he can not win a legitimate world title in the 140 lbs division. Just look at the names there.
Fucking retire already, the both of yous!
