Edwin Valero vs Tim Bradley?

The lightweight titleholder from Venezuela, Edwin “Inca” Valero (27-0, 27 KOs) gave a spectacular show on Saturday on Showtime when he stopped former interim WBC champ Antonio “Tony” DeMarco (23-2-1, 17 KOs) at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico in a much-anticipated championship fight.

In the second round, DeMarco’s elbow accidentally grazed Valero’s forehead which caused a deep gash that imminently started to squirt blood like an active volcano. I quickly assumed the fight will be stopped but unlike Nate Campbell, Edwin Valero showed he’s a true warrior and continued to fight regardless of the blood dripping onto his face.

I was a bit disappointed with DeMarco’s performance. He reminded me of Oscar De La Hoya when he fought Manny Pacqauio, besides quitting in his stool he was being to patient with his punches.

I couldn’t understand why DeMarco couldn’t throw more, his punches where effective, he cut Valero’s right cheek in round one with a single punch that should say a lot.

Though Antonio DeMarco, lost I still have respect for him for having the balls for stepping in the ring with a knock out artist. DeMarco, 24, also showed he’s not a one trick pony, he demonstrated solid boxing skills and a solid chin. That type of resilience will serve him well as he tries to bounce back from this painful setback.

I would love to see Edwin Valero take on Tim Bradley next. What do you think?

  1. Paulie might be a clown but he wont both fights on pure boxing, they gave the first one to Diaz, Paulie got robbed big time, but he really won both fights on pure boxing and speed, styles make fights and once I saw what Paulie did in the first one I knew that if they were going to do a rematch away from Texas he was going to win by points.

It was funny he actually could have scored a KO, he had Diaz hurt big time in the 2nd fight and he wasnt ready for that lol, haha still remember Paulie’s face when he hit Diaz and he almost went down, he went like WOOOOOW! Lol, he should have jumped on it and finished him, but he has terrible hands
that’s why he doesnt have a lot of KOs.
So yeah I agree Paulie is a clown but styles make fights.

  2. Tihjuana,I am not expecting him to have a muscular and brawny body ,but I am sure that he can do better than that.
he lost against pauli who is a clown .I was really
disappointed when he lost against this clown .
I thought that he will KO Pauli .

  3. Tiajuana I agree with your outlook on Juan Diaz. Just being called “The Baby Bull” tell something about his fighting style. To me Hopkins is boring, as is Winky, Spinks and even Floyd but… Juan Diaz?? ahhhh… Don’t think so. Peace!!

  4. LOL this is classic “love Boxing”, Juan Diaz is not boring fighter, he’s an all action all presure fighter, he may not have the bodybuilding athletic body that other boxers have and so what, not everyone has great genetics, boxing is about skills not looks
Juan Diaz had Marquez hurt a few times and was actually winning the fight, up until he got cut, then Marquez took over, but I would not call Juan Diaz Boring at all, he doesn’t run around or is high defence fighter, not sure why you think he’s boring.

  5. EXAMINER Yes, but… unfortunately there’s a Khan vs Marquez in the works. And besides… I don’t think they’ll want Marquez just yet. Maybe if he loses to Khan then possibly, it all depends on how good/bad Marquez looks. If he looks good then forget it, Valero’s peeps won’t go for it, prefering to face a rather worn/washed version, that’s basically how far they’ll be willing to go at this point when considering Marquez as an opponent. Now… Valero sort rememnds me of a larger version of Vic Darchinyan, sooner or later his “defense” or lack of, will be a big liability and well as a well skilled boxer/puncher. I’m not too ready to jump on the “Valero Hype Mobile”, but that’s just me. He is impressive, no doubt but…… Peace!

  6. LOVE BOXING Diaz a boring fighter?? hmmmm…. His fight with Marquez was chosen ‘Fight Of The Year” by the Ring Magazine! And.. I harldy consider his fights vs Katsidis, Freitas and even Campbell boring, just to name a few. I do agree that he seems to have stamina problems and seems to have already peaked out at a rather young age. I don’t know much about his training habits so I won’t comment on them but you may be right on and that might explain somethings. Now, presently, I STILL would pick him over a fighter like DeMarco. Peace!

  7. I saw all Diaz fights .I think that he doesn’t deserve to be boxer .first his body is out of shape ,he needs to get his ass in the gym .it’s really embarrassing to step in the ring with this kind of physique and his style is so boring,
no skills or speed .I think that he needs a total
    transformation .
if he fights Valero,he will get knocked out with out a doubt

  8. TIAJUANA Right you are. Now, if the Bull had more pop in this high rate arsenal then his chances against Valero grow inmensly due to the fact that Valero’s defense would be non exsistant vs Diaz. Diaz is a better skilled and faster handed fighter than DeMarco. But then again.. if The Bull had punching power…. then Valero’s peeps wouldn’t make the fight in the first place.

  9. I agreewith EZ, I don’t think they will go for the high risk fightsjust yet, Valeroalready said he wants to go up to 140 to fight The baby Bull Diaz, I can see that fight ending with another KO for Valero, that’s a perfect fight for Valero, Diaz has a name but its not a high risk fighter, he can box and brawl but Valero will get the better of those exchanges and will keep his KO ratio a perfect one.

  10. Bradley isn’t Demarco, by no means. DeMarco had become a bit of a “name” fighter as of late but rather limited with no defense, which were the reasons he was picked in the first place. NO WAY will Valero peeps allow him to go up against Bradley. They will continue to carefully match him until the $$ is right enough to “sacrifice” him.

  11. He might, but Bardley has the style to beat Valero, half a step here, half a step there , and punching, but he is not a big puncher so Valero might be able to walk through Bardley and score a ko, but Bardley will not stand there and do nothing like DeMarco did, of course, Bardley is a way better fight then DeMarco is, which would make for a good/great fight.

  12. I like Bradley over Valero by decision

Why disappointed with DeMarco. DeMarco has shown in the past that he is not a top world class fighter. he will come back and beat class C fighters, but he will not beat the top fighters, its just not in him to do so.
