Former world champions Edgar Sosa and Ulises Solis are both confident of victory when they collide Saturday night at the Centro de Usos Múltiples at the U de G in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in a bout that can be seen on UniMas in the United States. Sosa (47-7, 28 KOs) and Solis (35-2-3, 22 KOs) will meet for Sosa’s WBC silver flyweight belt, and the winner will also become mandatory challenger to WBC world champion Toshiyuki Igarashi.

Here’s what they had to say at today’s press conference:

Edgar Sosa: “Archie and I know each other perfectly. There are no secrets and we know what to do in the ring. I’ve had a great preparation and have arrived at m best. I am the champion and know what to do to beat him. The fact that the fight is in Guadalajara doesn’t worry me. The people are knowledgeable, the Boxing Commission is serious and when it comes to the fight, he and I will be alone. I have respect for the public and I hope sand to fill, the Guadalajara public always applauds him the winner and I can turn the people to my side.”

Archie Solis: “I am happy to be in Guadalajara, appearing before my people in what is a very important bout because the future of my career depends on the result. A win puts the winner on the verge of a second world title at a different weight, but defeat means a step back. I beat Sosa twice and I can do it again. Sosa has had his chance to be world champion in two divisions (in October 2010 against WBC flyweight champ Wojongkam Pongsaklek) and failed. Now I’m on my chance!”
