Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KOs) will defend his welterweight crown against Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KOs) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in a much-anticipated third showdown and by the way it looks, no one thinks Marquez has a chance.
Considering the closeness of their first two fights, Pacquiao is 9-1 favorite on the MGM Grand sports book. Those are insurmountable high odds, regardless of the razor-thin margin that separated them the first two times they met.
Pacquiao emerged with a split decision in 2008 when they met at 130 pounds, a draw at 126 pounds in 2004 and now 14 pounds heavier (144) and 7 years later, Marquez has tried to bulk up and has added a strength and conditioning coach who has packed pounds onto his chest and shoulders to either slow him down or pack a power punch.
In my opinion I think Marquez will look slower not only because of the extra pounds but also considering his age, 38. I also think Nacho Beristain, Marquez’s trainer, over trains him.
Either way, Bob Arum guaranteed Marquez $5 million for this bout plus an upside of the pay-per-view profits. In the event Marquez wins Saturday, the rematch clause holds an option for an immediate rematch which would theoretically take place next spring and a guaranteed $10 million for Marquez.
I just hope Pacquiao-Marquez III is another entertaining fight as their first two bouts were.
I saw some pictures on the internet about the dirty tricks of marquez during the fight, how true is this?
Pacman will destroy Marquez watching boxing as long as I have knowing after he beats Marquez mayweather will never happen he’s too afraid!!!!
Marquez better not come stiff, with all that weights training.
Most of the fighters that have fought Pacquiao tend to back down after they feel his power. Marquez does not and even lands combinations, something Pacquiao isn’t used to. That alone gives Marquez a chance to win. Just a chance though…I’m not predicting anything that will come back and bite me in the ass.
I hope for another great fight too, but however it turns out I’m rooting for Marquez until the end.
