Earlier this week Denver Police found Mike Alvarado’s green Cadillac Escalade inside a lake located near 17th and Sheridan. Detectives aren’t sure what the driver’s motivation was for dumping the SUV in the lake. But they do believe that Mike Alvarado was driving it.
According to Denver CBSLocal a witnesses saw a male driver and unknown female prepare to ditch the vehicle.
“Well, the guy got out of the car and let the girl out of the car, and then the guy got back in the car and the driver opened the door and rolled out shortly as the car was going into the lake, shortly before the car went into the lake,” said witness Maggie Baker.
Police are investigating whether the SUV may have been involved in hit and run.
Police said the SUV is registered to Alvarado’s sister but Mike Alvarado drives it.
Mike Alvarado declined to comment.
Four months ago Mike Alvarado lost to Ruslan Provodnikov. Ruslan Provodnikov and Mike Alvarado went toe-to-toe, but in the end Provodnikov beat Alvarado down and forced him to retire on his stool after 10 rounds, winning the WBO junior welterweight title.
Word is that Mike Alvarado will return to the ring April 12 against former champion Antonio DeMarco. DeMarco is now working with hall of famer trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. The fight will be part of the undercard of Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
