Sorry for not posting much boxing news lately, my partner and I have been busy building Erik Morales website, BoxLatino.com, which brings me to this hot topic. Erik Morales will exercise his rematch clause October 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, when he faces for the second time the new WBC and WBA super lightweight champion Danny Garcia (24-0, 15 KOs).

Danny Garcia is coming off an amazing win over Amir Khan and personally I don’t know what to think about this fight. Putting business aside, Morales is not in his prime anymore and his last fight March in 2012 “El Terrible” didn’t look good.

On a brighter note, Morales did much better than the younger Amir and was able to go the distance something Amir failed to do. I know many of you are probably not digging this fight and I have to agree.

What are your thoughts?

  1. The only reason this fight is happening is because of the rematch clause in the the first fight’s contract. It’s not like Morales can make weight anyway.

  2. Seems like there was a lot of better options for Danny Garcia. Maybe Morales’ surgery played a bigger role in his loss last time than he and his team led us to believe. I’m actually looking foreword to this fight if El Terrible can come in to this fight in shape. Garcia’s dismantling of Khan was the confidence booster he needed. Kind of a no win situation for Garcia. Lose, and you’re labeled a flash in the pan, win and everyone will say Erik Morales was old & washed up.

  3. A fit, motivated Erik Morales will have too much for Garcia. we saw wat El terrible did in the first fight, this time he has to be motivated and fit and loose that flab he has in the mid-section.
