Next Friday, July 23, 2010, from Temecula, CA’s Pechanga Resort and Casino, Golden Boy Promotions in association with Ringside Ticket Inc., and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, present “Solo Boxeo Tecate” and broadcast by Telefutura. The 10-round middleweight main event features Scottish southpaw sensation Craig McEwan (18-0, 10KO) taking on durable veteran Danny “Dynamite” Perez (34-7, 17KO).

This replaces the original main event which was Sergio the “Latin Snake” Mora (22-1-1, 6KO) vs. JC Candelo (30-10-4, 20KO), due to the fact that Mora got a better offer to face former four-time world champion and future hall of famer “Sugar” Shane Mosley (46-6, 39KO), in a junior middleweight bout on Sept. 18, 2010, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, on pay-per-view.

McEwan faces his toughest opponent in Perez who has never been knocked out and was known as the only man to knock down Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27KO), until Mosley kayoed Margarito last year. McEwan, a Golden Boy promoted Freddie Roach trained pugilist, is a slick boxer who turned pro in 2006 and has breezed through his first eighteen foes. In his last fight, McEwan stopped Canadian light middleweight champion Kris Andrews (16-9-2, 4KO), and looks to keep up his winning ways against the tough Perez. Craig is one of the best amateur boxers Scotland has ever seen and was a bronze medalist at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. He has had a hard time securing opponents and Golden Boy Promotions has stated that marquee opposition is refusing to face the Scottish dynamo.

The other half of the main event, longtime pro Danny Perez who is from Ventura, CA, and resides in Carlsbad, CA, is looking to bounce back from two decision losses at the hands of Carlos Molina (17-4-1, 5KO) and his last opponent, Cuban Sensation Erislandy Lara (12-0, 7KO). “Dynamite” Perez is the former NABF welterweight champion and holds notable victories over Marcos Primera and Jose Luis Zertuche and aims to stop the rise of the Scottish southpaw.

In the 6 round featherweight co-main event, 23-year-old Paramount, CA, prospect Charles Huerta (13-1, 7KO), squares off against Mexico’s Jonathan Arias (10-6, 8KO). Huerta has recovered well with two victories over Rodrigo Aranda and Guadalupe DeLeon since getting knocked out by Derrick Wilson (7-1-2, 2KO) in 59 seconds of the opening round. Arias will be looking to make Huerta the first victim on his comeback.

Also on the card, knock out artist Keith Thurman (12-0, 11KO) faces Stalinn Lopez (7-0, 3KO) in an 8-round welterweight scrap. Thurman has knocked out 11 of 12 opponents with eight of those kayos coming in the opening round and will be gunning to make Lopez his 12th KO victory. Both fighters will be trying to keep their perfect records intact but somebody’s “O” will go.

Tickets, priced at $75, $65, $50 and $35, are on sale now by calling (877) 711-2946 or visiting www.pechanga.com. Doors open at 6pm PT and the first fight begins at 7pm PT. Telefutura’s “Solo Boxeo Tecate” will be broadcast at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT).
