Miguel Cotto is on his way to become only the second Puerto Rican fighter to earn a $10 Million purse -the first was Felix “Tito” Trinidad- if a bout between the Caguas native and Manny Pacquiao is made for December of this year.
But first, he must win on June 13th against Joshua Clottey of Ghanna and them come to an agreement with his promoter Bob Arum who is very much interested for Cotto to re-sign with his company, Top Rank. Cotto’s contract with Arum’s company ends in December.
“We are focused for June 13th and once that fight is over, we will sit down to talk. I can imagine that it can be a possibility but we would have to talk after June 13th,” Cotto’s agent Gaby Peñagaricano stated.
Pacquiao made a $12 Million purse, not counting his take from PPV, for knocking out Ricky Hatton who walked away with $8 Million.
Arum stated that a possible Cotto-Pacquiao face off should take place in Las Vegas or the Philippines but Madison Square Garden in New York has not been denied as a possible venue. Photo by Cotto’s Camp
