Chris Arreola will once again fight at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA. He will be the main event on Friday Night Fights on ESPN2 on August 13th against Manuel Quezada (29-5, 18KOs).
After losing for the second time in his past three fights, heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (28-2, 21 KO’s) needs to make some changes and I mean fast, not only is he embarrassing losing but his losing his fan base. Chris is an awesome guy and all but I don’t want him to get hurt. He comes to fight extremely overweight and his only looking for the knock out punch. It seems like his not even trying. He needs discipline. I think its time to change trainers. I could hear Arreola already saying, “fuck no, I am not changing trainers. Henry is my friend.”
Henry Ramirez has been Arreola’s trainer and long time friend but Arreola needs to understand this is business. Take Miguel Cotto and Cesar Chavez Jr. for example, they both changed trainers and their last performances speaks for themselves.
When I was youngster I had a habit of being a nice guy. I always want to please people which caused me to lose lots of opportunities. I probably would still be a people pleaser if it wasn’t for my parents. See, my parents always told me that I have to look out for my best interest. They always told me to watch out for others or else I could get screwed. I never really believed them until I got screwed. More importantly they taught me that if I was doing business with friends or family, I shouldn’t let that affect anything, as business is business. If the other party can’t accept that, then they aren’t worth doing business with.
I know it sounds bad to be a cutthroat business person but sometimes you have to. I used to think that everyone’s problems were my problems. But my parents taught me that they weren’t and if you aren’t a cutthroat person when time requires it, people will just walk all over you. Sometimes changes are good and if you don’t take action fast, the only cheer you’re going to hear from your fans will be crickets. Deafening silence. Besides, base on your recent performances, what are you really risking?
CHRIS IS A GREAT FIGHTER WITH 2 LOSSES OR NOT.IN THE ADULT WORLD WE DONT PLAY THE BLAME GAME. NOW ABOUT DISCIPLINE IT IS NO SECRET CHRIS COULD USE MORE… BUT ULTIMATELY THATS CHRIS DECISION.
ITS NOT HENRY RAMIREZ THAT LACKS DESCIPLINE HE SHOWS UP TO THE GYM LIKE CLOCKWORK ACCORDING TO HIS OTHER FIGHTERS.
SO… AS FOR THE TITLE “Chris Arreola, Change Your Trainer!” MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE A BIT MORE RESEARCH RATHER THAN SPEWING NONSENSE LIKE…
“losing his fan base”
“I always want to please people which caused me to lose lots of opportunities.”
“Take Miguel Cotto and Cesar Chavez Jr. for example, they both changed trainers and their last performances speaks for themselves.”
SO NO YOU DIDNT DISPUTE CHRIS WAS A GOOD FIGHTER BUT… YOU DID EMPLY CHRIS NOT CHANGING HIS TRAINER IS THE CAUSE OF HIM LOSING FANS AND/OR LOSING OPPERTUNITIES. MAYBE YOU GOT A LITTLE CRUSH ON HERY RAMIREZ?
IM SURE WHEN YOU “hung out and party”D WITH CHRIS YOU WERE SINGING HIS PRAISES…LOL
Chris has a good record. Iam not disputing his a bad fighter, but he could be better he needs more discipline.
I have personally hanged out with Chris few times and from experience he’s an awesome guy to hang out and party, but dosent have the discipline like other boxers have. His always coming over weight, he even admits it.
Who do you blame the boxer or the trainer?
HENRY RAMIREZ’S REPUTATION SPEAKS FOR IT SELF!(ONE OF THE BEST TRAINERS OUT THERE), LOOK AT HIS OTHER FIGHTERS!!!!( CHRIS IS NOT HIS ONLY FIGHTER). SO… CHRIS HAS HAD A COUPLE LOSSES, HE WILL BE BACK! IF YOU HAVE GIVEN UP ON HIM AFTER ONLY 2 LOSSES YOU WERENT A TRUE FAN IN THE FIRST PLACE.
AS FOR CHRIS HE IS A VERY INTELLIGENT BUSINESS MAN, THIS BUSINESS IS NOT ONLY BETWEEN A TRAINER AND A BOXER IT TAKES AN ENTIRE TEAM TO GET TO THE TOP. JUST BECAUSE CHRIS LOSS 2 FIGHTS DOSENT MEAN CHRIS IS GOING TO FORGET WHERE HE CAME FROM AND THE TEAM IT TOOK TO GET HIM THERE.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU MR GONZALES HAVE (IN YOUR WORDS) GOTTEN SCREWED ONE TOO MANY TIMES , A LITTLE BITTER PER HAPPS?. BEING CUT-THROAT IS NOT EVER A SMART BUSINESS DECISION, NOW… BEING DIRECT IS, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE NOTES FROM MR ARREOLA SOMEONE WHOM IS ALWAYS DIRECT.
28 WINS WITH 21KOs IS NOT A BAD RECORD AT ALL BUT SOMETIMES PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND THE MENTAL CAPACITY OF WHAT IT TAKES TO STEP INTO THE RING, ITS MUCH EASIER TO POINT THE FINGER. IN THE END NO PRESS IS BAD PRESS…WHO GETS THE LAST LAUGH?
I agree he is over weight and needs to bend his waist more. He has alot of experience but has to hurry, Chris you can’t have the best of both worlds, “pay now play later”.
i think its chris fault. change the diet and you will see a great champ. im a big fan of chris but he needs to loose the weight
Ultimately it’s the fighter’s responsability.
The question remains who’s at fault?
The trainer for not being strict with his fighter
Or
The Fighter for not having any discipline?
I think part of it has to do with his habits after training. No trainer can be with his fighter 24/7. Arreola would talk about drinking some cold Coronas after his training. What’s that all about ???
I hope he doesn’t make the same mistake James Toney made. If Toney fought at 220-230 lbs he would have ruled the heavyweight division and would have defeated Vitali Klitschko. yeah I SAID IT !! Toney is one of the best defensive fighters I have ever seen. Imagine Toney in shape and weighing 230 lbs ????? It’s too late now
Arreola has that chance right now !!! If he trims down to 220-230 lbs he can rule the division and retire both Klitchkos. He actually has REAL boxing skills, he has a amateur background for heavens sake. The Coronas should be drunk after a victory.
