Son of a Legend, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. expects to return to the ring in April as long as the pending action of the Nevada State Athletic Comission does not stand in his way. Chavez Jr. drug test after his November 14th bout where he defeated Troy Rowland came up positive for a diuretic which resulted in an alleged suspension. It has been rumored that the suspension can be anywhere from three to nine months.
“In February I am going to go and face the Nevada commission. I hope to fight John Duddy in April and then go after a world title or a big fight. Once I know how long the suspension is for, then we will make the fight,” chavez Jr. stated. Chavez Jr. is recuperating from a nose surgery.
It is also known that the suspension would be retro active since November.
Chavez Jr. revealed that Top Rank has mentioned the Son of a Legend to go against the winner of the Yuri Foreman-Miguel Cotto bout slated for June 12th.
As far as the signing of Saul “Canelo’ Alvarez by Golden Boy Promotions, Chavez Jr. added:
“Maybe in the future we will face each other.”
He should fight El Canelo Alvarez, he always says he wants big fights but he ends up fighting bums and doesn’t even look very good doing that.
