Rumor is that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is pulling out from his scheduled fight on Saturday, Dec 4, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California due to a severe flu-like illness that has curtailed his training. Another rumor is that Chavez just doesn’t want to fight the replacement Pawel Wolak at a catchweight of 165-pounds.
Pawel Wolak replaced an injured Alfonso Gomez who was fighting Chavez Jr. at 157. Chavez’s trainer Freddie Roach and Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum will explain everything during a conference call tomorrow, Tuesday Nov 30 so stay tuned.
Update: Chavez jr. Will not fight on Dec 4. Click Here to read why.
nothing surprising here. i never respected this kid and never will. he looks for the easy fights he is a nobody in boxing so not a big lost
I hate it that Chavez is on ppv…. He never fights anybody good.!!!he needs to start fighting good fighters cus I’m getting real dissapointed …He’s already 25 years old ,, and he hasn’t proved anything….
Like I already said on a related article, I’m was a bit surprised that team Chavez accepted Wolak in the first place. No only because he’s a late minute sub but… because I consider Wolak a dangerous opponent for Chavez, who’s so close to a BIG $$$ fight. One loss and the youngster’s market value will take a serious nose dive. Do I BELIEVE that Chavez Jr can beat Wolak?? hmmmmm… Well, what I think or BELIEVE isn’t really imortant. What IS important is what Chavez Jr BELIEVES. Is his self-confidence being rattled?? But, to answer the question.. ahhhh… yes, I believe he can defeat Wolak and I ALSO believe that Wolak can can beat him. In other words it’s basically a ‘pick em’ fight in my estimation with Chavez a slight edge due to the FACT that Wolack will have to win VERY convincingly PLUS if he expects to win by decision.
Eh, oh well it’s not like his fight was gonna be entertaining or anything, the rest of the card is good but from the beginning I wasn’t gonna order it cuz his name is on the card thats for sure. Pull it from ppv and give us the rest of the fights free on tv! When Chavez fights real competition then I will wanna see him either sink or swim.
