You need a little oomph, a little luck, a lot of patience and the fights we want will soon come true. Hell, sometimes you need to bitch a little to get what you want. That’s exactly what we all did. We all talked crap about how Chavez Jr. was dodging to fight Sergio Martinez, well at least I was. Eventually the snowflake turned into a snowball that rolled into an avalanche and the rest is history.

Finally today in Los Angeles, undefeated WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and two-division world champion Sergio Martinez hosted a press conference to kick off their coast-to-coast media tour announcing their Mexican Independence Day middleweight championship battle taking place September 15th at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

I’ve been waiting for this fight for a long time and things got a bit heated.

“Chavez Sr. better take a picture of his son now because after the fight he won’t recognize him. I’m going to beat him up!” Martinez told the media.

Chavez Jr. also fired back, “there’s been a lot of lies about what happened with the WBC title. He gave up the title and he’s got a great relationship with the WBC. He’s the one who’s been protected by the WBC. I haven’t been protected by the WBC, I’ve been fighting the best. He wanted to make money. That’s why he’s here…don’t have any doubts that I’m going to be the winner.”

This is a fight you don’t want to miss.

  1. Chavez vs Martinez is a done deal when they’re both in the ring and Michael Buffer is clearing his throat. OK, I will accept Jimmy Lennon.

I agree with with Efrain that Chavez Jr is a creation of TV Azteca and the WBC. BTW, Azteca shows good fights. I watch every Saturday unless they re broadcast an HBO fight. I live near the Mexican border so I haven’t paid for a PPV fight in over 3 years. Azteca shows them for free.

  2. Lol listen to this guy still crying about chavez jr not taking the fight 2 years ago lol, my respects for maravilla just a great all out boxer. I’m really excited about this fight can waiiit!!! All my respects to Chavez for stepping in the ring against this pound for pound Champ, although Chavez has improved alot I don’t think he has what it takes to beat sergio. Sergio decided he wanted to box after being a soccer player, Bicyclist, and still managed to make the top ranks at age 22(wow). I like to see the difference of a born fighter and a trained fighter !! My respects to chavez for taking this fight and stepping in the ring make mx Proud!! Ps plz don’t injure urself before the fight /:

  3. To bad that Chavez Jr waited 2 years to give fight maravilla, I believe that know he has a slight advantage, but we all know that maravilla was and still is the real champion. Chavez is a creation of TV Azteca and Sulaiman who by the way I believe is Chavez Jr. godfather. In other words mafia, mafia, mafia.
