According to Esto.com, a poposed stellar fight card originally slated for Culiacan, MX, has found its way to the border city of Tijuana, MX, thanks to Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions.
Set for Saturday, March 28th, the night will feature the Son of the Legend Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (38-0-1, 29KO) as well as newly crowned WBC Super featherweight champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto (46-7-2, 29KO). Also featured will be current WBO super flyweight titlist Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel (38-2-1, 28KO) as he goes after Puerto Rican Eric Morel (40-2, 21KO) for the interim WBO bantamweight title giving him his third title in as many divisions.
“I am very motivated, I am developing my rhythm and strength in the gym,” “Montiel stated from his home in Los Mochis, MX. “I am in my conditioning stage and soon we will start preparing a strategy.”
Montiel also spoke about the battle between his close friend Jorge “Travieso” Arce and Vic Darchinyan this weekend.
“It is going to be a tough fight and it will end by knockout. I hope that ‘Travieso’ wins but it’s going to be a tough fight.”
Chavez Jr. will be taking on Brazil’s Carlos Nascimento (21-1, 18KO) while Soto’s opponent has not yet been determined.
