Carl Froch says he is at his “physical peak” as he continues to build towards his eagerly anticipated rematch with Mikkel Kessler , who in 2010 fought a epic battle won by Kessler during the Super Six World Boxing Classic, will meet again May 25.

Froch has already warned the Dane to expect a ‘savage’ battle when they face off for a second time in front of 17,000 fans at London’s O2 Arena. The Nottingham-born fighter is seeking revenge after losing his WBC title on points in Denmark three years ago, a result that rocked the boxing betting world.

The IBF super middleweight champion will turn 36 in July and could hang up his gloves after his bout with Kessler. However, retirement is the furthest thing from Froch’s mind as he fine-tunes his body and mind for another high-octane fight.

Froch feels in great shape ahead of the May showdown and fully believes his hard work will pay off in the ring.

2_Carl_Froch“I’m at my physical peak. I’m sure I’ll go over the hill at one stage, but at the minute I’m hitting everything I need to hit. Physically I’m in my prime and mentally I’m so much tougher than what I was when I was 25,” he told Sky Sports.

“Success breeds confidence, and I’ve had that much success I go into the ring very confident and that’s half the battle in boxing, believing in yourself.”

Like Froch, Kessler is in confident mood going into the rematch. He has revealed he will target Froch’s areas of weakness from the first round and has a feeling the bout will not go the distance.

“If I can see the opening, of course I will take it. I will see if I can stop the fight before the time,” said Kessler.

“He’s a physical, strong fighter. Every fighter would like to stop his opponent before time. But if it goes like our last fight, I will be ready for the 12 rounds.”
