Carl Froch was supposed to fight George Groves for a second time but that was before Groves turned down a “seven figure offer” for a rematch.
“We made a seven figure offer for a second fight that would have seen him earn around double that of the first. Disappointingly, George rejected this offer,” Froch told Sky Sports News.
The Nottingham fighter beat Groves in Manchester in November with a stoppage in the ninth round but the decision was met with a negative response from the crowd. Froch was booed out of the ring.
Disappointingly, George rejected the rematch so now word is that Froch may be facing Cesar Chavez Jr next.
“I understand the demand for the Groves fight in the UK but also the demand in the US for the Chavez fight. Talks are ongoing and no doubt some further news will break soon. I’m happy to fight anyone as I have done throughout my entire career,” stated Froch.
Chavez, who turns 28 on Feb. 16, is scheduled to take on Bryan Vera in a 12-round super middleweight fight on March 1 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
If Chavez makes weight and beats Vera, we can expect Chavez vs Froch in the summer.
