This Saturday, November 26 at Plaza Mexico in Mexico City, which will air live on HBO’s Boxing After Dark, undefeated WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (38-0-1, 28 KO’s) will take on former World Champion Kermit “The Killer” Cintron (33-4-1, 28 KO’s).

Without a doubt I will be watching this fight but I am not as thrilled. “Canelo” is expected to win against Cintron who is border line retired. Cintron lost earlier this year against Carlos Molina and he has also lost twice to Antonio Margarito and not to mention his fight with Paul Williams. I will give him credit for his win against Alfredo Angulo.

No doubt he is a better opponent than Peter Manfredo. Just like Bob Arum is doing with Chavez Jr, Oscar De La Hoya continues to inflate “Canelo” to a super star.

I just don’t get it… “Canelo” is defending his world title so why is Cintron getting a shot at a title shot? Why doesn’t “Canelo” fight who is next in line? I don’t blame the fighters but the WBC for allowing it. What is wrong with these so called champions today? I could bet you I am not the only one criticizing.

They can fool the casual fan but not the true boxing fans!

  1. well it looks like canelo is gonna get away with another easy win fighting someone that hasn’t been doing any good progress this guy really needs to step it up, needs to fight a top notch boxer. he still hasn’t proven anything. when he fought Alfonso Gomez he didnt show me anything when chavez jr fought manfredo he showed me a lot manfedo beat gomez twice and chavez made it seem so easy so in my opinion i think chavez starting to show some progress and i dont see that in canelo its only my opinion

  2. Bob Arum and GBP suk!
They may be geniuses but they still suk and they are whats wrong with boxing today!
    Nothing new though.

  3. Yeah man they only picked Cintron because he’s hasn’t looked good his last few fights but they could be in for a surprise, Cintron has solid boxing skills y pegada, he may be the guy that tests Canelo.

  4. Chavez is cashing in on his name and so is Top Rank. Alvarez is hailed as the next superstar on a different level. Sort of when Barrera and Morales were in their prime. They both have their fan base. Anyway GBP isn’t gonna risk Canelo vs Cotto, Martisoyan, or anybody else worthy. Just like Chavez won’t be put to fight Martinez or any top middleweight. He isn’t even willing to fight Marco A. Rubio even though he won a title elimination fight.
