C.J. Ross is the only judge that scored the Mayweather-Canelo fight as a draw, 114-114. The other two judges scored it for Mayweather 116-112 (Dave Moretti) and 117-111 (Craig Metcalfe), giving the pound-for-pound king a majority decision victory.
After the fight boxing expert Teddy Atlas went on ESPN and said Ross’ score was a travesty and suggested she was a criminal.
Everyone in the arena was shocked by C.J.’s call … including Floyd Mayweather who mouthed the words, “What the f***” when the announcer revealed he won on a majority decision and not unanimous.
This is not the first time Cynthia J. Ross has been in a controversy scoring.
Ross is the same judge who awarded a controversial split-decision victory to Timothy Bradley against Manny Pacquiao and she loves giving draws.
June 9, 2012 — Manny Pacquaio vs Timothy Bradley
Ross scores 115-113 in favor of Bradley, a score widely condemned by fans and media.
Nov. 12, 2011 — Juan Carlos Burgos vs Luis Cruz
Ross was the only judge not to score heavily in favor of Burgos. Scored it a 95-95 draw.
Aug. 13,2011 — Abner Mares vs Joseph Agbeko I
She was the only judge not to see Mares as the winner. She scored a draw 113-113.
May 7, 2011 — Rodel Mayol vs Javier Gallo
The other judges saw it heavily in favor of Mayol. Ross scored a draw 95-95.
Feb. 7, 2008 — Kendall Holt vs Ben Tackie
The other two judges scored heavily in favor of Holt. Ross’ score was a draw 95-95.
July 13, 2002 — Kevin Kelly vs Humberto Soto
Ross was the only judge not to score it in favor of Kelly. She saw a draw at 114-114.
Her scoring is BS and disciplinary action should be taken. The Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer is defending her scoring…but his probably getting a cut too.
Her judging is given boxing a bad name.
Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who promotes “Canelo”, called Ross’ scorecard a “disgrace.”
“I thought it was a joke,” Floyd Mayweather told the media.
“She hurt the game,” said Mayweather Sr., the father and trainer of Floyd Jr. “For the biggest fight in the world in the history of boxing — you know what everyone is saying? Boxing is crooked. It’s crooked.”
Don’t you find her scoring a bit odd?
Hey, where are all the Canelo lovers that kept talking crap since the fight was announced? Now I keep seeing comments of how he just wasn’t ready, this was his 43rd professional fight!!! …. But yeah, he wasn’t ready, neither was De la Hoya, Mosley, Cotto, ect.. My point is that if they are standing in that ring getting paid the millions that they do is because they’re all just as ready as the other. They just got beat! They’re all good fighters and would pay to see any of them fight.. I’m just saying to stop making excuses of why Mayweather wins. Give the man his credit and accept he is the better boxer… By the way, I’ve read that stupid judge decided to step down and away from the sport after the fight… at least for now.
She should never work another fight. She seems to have a personal agenda. Maybe she hates on the pound for pound kings. Sit her old catarac eye a$$ down.

Teddy Atlas was right, she is a criminal. HOW DID SHE BECOME A BOXING JUDGE? How are the judges selected and by whom? There needs to be an investigation . The integrity of the sport is so bad and that is sad. Those of us who love the sport want her gone forever. Let her go to work for Don KIng.
Canelo just took this fight too soon. He’s a good boxer and I’m a fan, but he was getting pounded by Floyd! Was more disappointed in Matthysse- Danny got him good. Really dislike his father but he did an amazing job against Matthysse
C.J. Ross is a hack ! Firing her would be a great start to sending a warning to all the many ringside judges in this Country that are either incompetent, or as Teddy Atlas said, are “criminals” ! Judges whose scorecards have already been bought and paid for is the plague that has nearly ruined this sport for so many years. Lets see how that states boxing commission handles this one. I predict she’ll get a slap on the wrist, or nothing at all. Now-a-days it’s best to tell your fighter to make sure they knock out their opponent , cold , otherwise their decisions could be in the hands of ,”criminals”!
Art, are u blind or just don’t know shit about boxing?! Boxing is an art (no pun intended) & a skill… why would u stand in the middle & take a beating if u don’t have to?!?! It was a draw! yea mayweather is a great fighter but he will not fight u in the middle off the ring he hits yea he scores and dances around the ring i say rematch fight in the middle of ring toe to toe…..Just Saying…;)
