Join Champs & Fighters at FREE Event!
Here’s a shout out from the “Chatter Box” about this weekend’s special event with a pound-for-pound lineup of champs and fighters from the local community! Check out my exclusive report about the 2014 boxing fanfest blasting off this Saturday night!
For the fourth year in a row, pro boxing champions will be colliding at a star-studded event in the City of Pico Rivera. But no punches will be thrown, the prizefighters will all be gathering under one roof for the highly-anticipated Boxing Superstars Round 4: Meet & Greet taking place THIS Saturday, January 25, 2014.
This fiesta is always a popular draw as boxing aficionados in the surrounding neighborhoods get an opportunity to meet their heroes up close and personal all in one place at the same time. This is a FREE get-together where attendees can get autographs, pose for photos and try their chances in the free prize raffle. Free 2014 wall calendars will also be given away by Heroes Boxing Sponsorship Agency.
I’ve attended previous years’ events and I can tell you that it’s always an action-packed night with the boxers reconnecting with each other, making new friends and bringing smiles to tons of children who look up to these sports heroes. The evening is fun for all ages, so children and teens are welcome too.
Among those invited to attend are boxers Alfonso Gomez, Josesito Lopez, Israel Vazquez, Sergio Mora, Miguel Vazquez, Efrain Esquivias Jr., Javier Molina, Oscar Molina, Carlos Molina, Emanuel Medina, Sindy Amador, Giovani Segura, Bobby Chacon, Art Frias, Paul Gonzales, Enrique Ornelas, Freddy Hernandez, Xavier Montelongo Jr., Alejandro Gonzalez, Alejandro Gonzalez Jr., Christian Gonzalez, Ivan Redkach, Shibata Flores, Marco Antonio Rubio, Marco Reyes, Sergio Thompson and many more.
There will also be boxing trainers, cornermen, cutmen and others that guests will be able to network with, learn skills from and get invaluable advice from veteran coaches. Last year’s event featured a powerhouse room of individuals with Olympians, boxing champs, amateur stars, WBC champ and Playboy pinup Mia St. John, Mayor Gustavo Camacho, award-winning artist and California Boxing Hall of Fame’s Steve Harpst, WBC Supervisor Rudy Tellez, and countless others.
“The Contender” star Alfonso Gomez, brothers Robb and Zeuz and their father/trainer Alfonso Gomez Sr. were the original members of Boxing Superstars: Round 1 and have really watched this community event grow through the years.
Team Gomez, Senior Events Coordinator Efrain Lee and the City of Pico Rivera Department of Parks & Recreation in association with Heroes Boxing Sponsorship Agency (President Robb Gomez, Vice President Melissa DeVolentine, Alfonso Gomez and Alex Cornejo) have been working tirelessly to make sure each year–each “round” of this Boxing Superstars bash–gets bigger and better every year.
Melissa DeVolentine mentioned to me that there are approximately 30 fighters that have already confirmed for Saturday night’s affair. And besides the boxers, there will also be special guests, local city officials, band members of Hy3rid, and exhibits of products, interactive displays, sports gear and more. The gala will also include boxing demos and merchandise offerings by Cleto Reyes Gloves.
I caught up with Heroes Boxing President Robb Gomez as the team puts the finishing touches on this year’s Meet & Greet. The singer and business entrepreneur has been planning this annual event for several months now. Heroes Boxing Sponsorship Agency also just released a 2014 wall calendar featuring fighters Alfonso Gomez, Josesito Lopez, Daniel Ponce De Leon, Efrain Esquivias and Sergio Nunez. Copies of this collectible will be available at Saturday’s party.
“This year is the best so far,” Robb Gomez comments, “so I hope everyone can make it!”
I asked Gomez what he’s looking forward to most about Round 4.
“I’m looking forward to hanging out with all the boxers and fans,” he said. “There is an amazing energy flowing in the room that you can only experience once a year; Heroes Boxing and the City of Pico Rivera bring you that!”
And I agree with Robb 100%. The camaraderie is always great at this function as I get to visit with veteran boxers, new champs, local trainers and more. The energy in the room is always buzzing and this year special medals will be presented to the fighters. It’s fun to see the kids’ faces light up when they get to hold a championship belt. And to me, personally, that’s one of the highlights of the day–seeing the interaction and connection between the boxers and their fans.
Free admission, fun giveways, autograph and photo opportunities. Boxing heaven for true fans.
Don’t miss out on all the action THIS weekend!
