Undefeated WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (25-0, 19 KOs) retained his title with a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over IBF junior welterweight champion Juan Urango (21-2-1, 16 KOs) on Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL. Berto’s speed and agility allowed him to negate Urango’s pressure as he compiled a 117-111, 118-110, 118-110 win. The “Iron Twin” Urango, will now move back to the 140lb division where he remains as the IBF titleholder.

In a WBC 154lb eliminator, former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (31-2-1, 27 KOs) upset previously unbeaten junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo (15-1, 12 KOs) via twelve round unanimous decision. Cintron outworked Angulo for much of the fight, never allowing Angulo to get untracked. Scores were 116-112 on all cards.

Light heavyweight Yusaf Mack (27-2-2, 16 KOs) made quick work out of former NABO champion DeAndrey Abron (15-4, 10 KOs). Mack used his quickness to beat Abron to the punch evading Abron’s wide hooks while landing combinations to the body. In round four, Abron finally landed a sharp overhand left that only urged the agressive Mack to unleash furious combinations, finally putting Abron on the canvas with a overhand right. Abron made the count but Mack refused to let him off the hook by following up with a crushing left hook. The fight was then stopped.
Cintron/AA did not dissappoint. Very happy for Kerm– who put it all together with what was most likely his career as “HBO caliber” fighter at stake. Could not have happened to a nicer, more decent guy, and I hope that many fair minded fans were impressed with this gutsy performance and have a somewhat better opinion of his oft-maligned skills/intangibles, or at the very least quiets some of the more venomous haters out there .
Ditto for AA (in terms of being a good guy with impressive skills). I’m confident he”ll learn the lessons of what he needs to do from this loss and I’m sure he”ll be back fighting for a title at 154 (or above) in a year or two.
Cintron/AA were two class acts who should both be congratulated on an entertaining brawl– the sport needs more of them (and we fans need to appreciate those we do have)
I think Pacman camp is going too have a hard time finding the right opponent for a tune up fight before he meats Mayweather. Too be honest,
Pacman camp better decide what weight class he is going to fight at, just because we went all the way up to 147 too beat Oscar Dela Hoya. So the weight is going too be a very big issue, which is arguable. We all know that he knocked out Ricky Hatton at 140. So the Million dollar question is what weight is Manny and May…going to fight at, who gets the last say?
You know something, this why I love this division. We can have so much debates on fighter because theirs so many of them in the welter weight division and middle weight as well. I pretty much stay away from the light heavy weights don’t watch it too much lots of guys have faded. As much as I like Mayweeather I can say this, he does not want any part of Shane Moseley
too be honest. I don’t think lots of fighters want to fight him. Thats going to be a big problem for Shane Mosley. He hasn’t fought since January and he is the welter weight champion. Another fighter is Paul Williams. Nobody in that welter weight division wants any part of him neither, not even Mosley.
I agree Brian, Clottey can beat Cotto, but I think Cotto is on top of his game with a lot of experience, it would be very hard to beat, and with the whole Margarito fiasco anyone can argue Cotto “in a way” is still unbeaten, he fought an amazing fight against Margarito, came back and got the job done against Michael Jenningst, I think his 100% and very hard to beat, I would love to see a rematch with Mosley with the winner going against Pacquiao, Mayweather or Marquez.
Good fights coming up, can’t wait.
Joshua Clottey and Migul Cotto ……fight coming up, what do you guys think.
I think Clottey can beat him, but I’m not sure if thats going to happen because of Cotto’s experience and the quality of opponents that he has already faced. I still think he really lost too Shane Mosley, would love too see that rematch.

I thought Citron…..did a good job as well. But his last fight was controversial.
I thought he lost. This time he learned a lesson. Berto did what he had too do with Angulo, even though he did hold on a bit. He moved very well and his timing to hit Angulo was right on point. I find that Angulo’s punches are too wide and makes himself easy too be hit. Even thought he threw more most of them didn’t land as much. He should tried too have cut the ring off more to try and stop Berto. I think he should go back down to his original weight class, he looked a bit tired after the 8th round.
Cintron did a good job im happy for him.I hope angulo gets over this.fast and come back even stronger hes a good person
Yeah I think Angulo did hurt him a couple times and Cintron hold him a lot, especially in the last round when Angulo was giving him all he had left, who well, I think Berto was holding even more.
I hope Angulo comes back strong from his first defeat.
Both Berto and Cintron did what they had to do and they won a good clean fight.
Angulo was never in the fight as he could not get his shots in because of the good movement Cintron was doing, this was indeed the best Cintron I’ve seen, I wish Angulo had done more but oh well; my hat goes out for Cintron, great performance.
