Bernard Hopkins Rematch on May 21

The rematch between WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins will take place on May 21on HBO and once again it will take place at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City. Chad Dawson, whose camp threatened a lawsuit against Pascal if a rematch clause was not honored, may now fight on the undercard with a guaranteed shot at the winner.

Hopkins, who turned 46 last month, was bidding to break former heavyweight champion George Foreman’s record as the oldest fighter ever to win a world championship when he met Pascal on Dec. 18. Although Pascal knocked him down in the first and third rounds, Hopkins came away with a controversial majority draw.

Chris John vs Daud Yordan

Featherweight titlist Chris John will make his 14th title defense April 17 against Indonesian countryman Daud Yordan. The fight will take place at the 8,000-seat Jakarta International Expo and is being billed as the biggest fight in Indonesia’s history.

The 31-year-old John (44-0-2, 22 KOs), who has held his title since 2004, is coming off a near-shutout decision against Fernando Saucedo in Jakarta in December in his first fight in his home country in nearly three years.

LANARD LANE INJURED

With a hand injury forcing Lanard Lane to withdraw from his scheduled February 24 fight against Jessie Vargas, former Lightweight World Champion Jose Armando Santa Cruz has stepped up to face the unbeaten Las Vegan in the main event of the 2011 premiere of “Fight Night Club” at L.A. LIVE’s Club Nokia.

Former WBC Lightweight Interim World Champion Jose Armando Santa Cruz (28-5, 17 KO’s), has earned his stripes during his 11-year professional career by battling boxing’s best, including former world champions Joel “El Cepillo” Casamayor, Zab “Super” Judah, David Diaz and former world title challenger Edner Cherry. The 30-year-old Los Angeles native has won two of his last three bouts (with his lone loss over the stretch coming to Judah) and a win over the highly-touted Vargas (13-0, 7 KO’s) will put him right back in the mix at junior welterweight. 1. Like I said before, why hasn’t Rafael Marquez avenged his brother’s disputed loss to Chris John. He should be able to win as long he dosen’t fight in Indonesia.

  2. Well as long as Dawson is aggressive I don’t see him having a problem beating either Pascal or Hopkins. (maybe more a bit more trouble with Hopkins) As long as he doesn’t get scared to pull the trigger again that is. I would like the winner out of these three take on Cloud after, granted that he doesn’t hit any roadblocks between that time. I think Dawson has enough power to k.o. Pascal, he would however go the distance with the old man. Chris John I simply don’t like him he rarely fights as it is hopefully he retires soon. A good test for Vargas in Santa Cruz experience wise that is.
