Fernando Beltran, who heads the promotional company Zanfer and in turn the career of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has broken his silence in regards to the statements made by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, up and coming welterweight from Guadalajara, MX, who has publicly challenged Chavez Jr.
“That fighter (“Canelo”) has made some statements that cannot be taken seriously,” Beltran, who resides in Tijuana, MX, stated. “To start with, the star of Mexican boxing is ‘Julito’ and not him. Alvarez has beaten only no names and just because of that, he thinks he can beat Julio Cesar. ‘JUlito’ is not afraid of him but he is not going to fight with just anybody that challenges him.”
As far as the possibility of the bout actually happening, Beltran was candid with the conditions that would have to take place.
“For example, the fight would have to be at 154 lbs., Julio’s weight,” Beltran stated. “If ‘Canelo’, who is much shorter, still wants to fight Chavez, then it is up to him.”
“I am sure that Alvarez only wants this fight for the money and not because he thinks he can win,” Beltran concluded. “I think he just wants the paycheck.”

I agree TJ. It’s time to stop taking our money and put this guy in with a name guy. I would buy that. I won’t buy the garbage they put him in with now.
Well I’m sorry, but I’m not sure Chavez Jr. is the real deal, just yet, he also has fought no one, unless you can call Vanda someone, true he didn’t have an amateur career but I think it’s time for him to step up on his opponents, the kid is already 23, others have beaten champions and are champions by this age.
Does he really have it? We have yet to see.
