At a press conference in Cordoba, Argentina, former world champion Jorge “La Hiena” Barrios unleashed a barrage of abuse at Moises Castro, who he meets on Saturday night, as well as WBC world lightweight champion Edwin Valero. “I want to fight Edwin Valero,” proclaimed Barrios. “He is badly educated and I want to give him a big lesson. I’m not the same as I was, I am much better. Valero is not even a man and not even his mother would pay to see him fight. Barrios went on, calling Valero “homosexual” and “good for nothing” among other things. Regarding his Nicaraguan opponent, Barrios said that he can’t find any of his fights on YouTube and perhaps his mother is the only one who has a video of him. The bout, for the WBO Latino lightweight title, takes place at the Polideportivo Sports Carlos Ceruti in Cordoba, Argentina. It will be Barrios’ first fight since September 2008 against Rocky Juarez. The event is presented by Arano Box Productions in association with Golden Boy Promotions and seen in Latin America on HBO.
