Top Rank head honcho Bob Arum and Tuto Zabala Jr. of All Star Boxing will meet this week in New York City to discuss the possibility of working together with the popular prospect Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
“Canelo” Alvarez, who is currently ranked as the WBC#4, WBO#5 and WBA#7 welterweight, is very popular in Mexico where he has fought exclusively on TELEVISA and has sold out various arenas through out the country.
Only nineteen years of age, Alvarez boasts of an undefeated record of 30-0-1, 22KO and has captured the WBA FEDECENTRO, the WBO Latino, the NABF and the Youth WBC titles.
“This is the time for ‘Canelo’ to invade the American market. He has seen action on Telemundo but now we want to to turn into a great PPV atraction. He has all the tools to achieve it and we think that he is ready to face the best in the division like Manny Pacquiao or Miguel Cotto among others,” Zabala stated. “If we can come to an agreement, Alvarez might fight on the March 13th fight card being held in Dallas, TX, when Manny Pacquaio faces Joshua Clottey.”
