On Thursday, August 26th, the newest member of the Espinoza Boxing Club led by 2007 Manager of the Year, Frank Espinoza, will make his Nokia Live debut in downtown Los Angeles, CA, when the undefeated super lightweight Antonio Orozco (7-0, 5KO) of National City, CA, by way of Tecate, MX, will take on the rugged Humberto Tapia (15-14-1, 8KOs) of Tijuana, MX, in a six round contest.
The Golden Boy Promotions and AEG presented card billed as “Fight Night Club” features the talented up and coming Ronny Rios (11-0, 5KOs) in the main event as he takes on the Dominican Republic’s Leivi Brea (18-8-3, 10KOs) in a six round junior lightweight contest.
“I want to prove that I am worthy and an up and coming prospect and I have what it takes to have my name out there, that I am somebody to look out for,” Orozco stated regarding his next assignment. “I have a lot to bring to the sport.”
The much more experienced Tapia has traded leather against the likes of Brandon Rios, Jeffrey Resto, Danny Garcia and Carlos Molina. The thirty-bout veteran is coming a hard fought loss to Jesus Gurrola last month while Orozco earned a unanimous decision over Mike Peralta.
“This is going to be a stern test for Orozco,” Frank Espinoza, who also helms the careers of Rios and Molina among others, stated.” We are confident that Antonio has what it takes and I am sure he is going to put on a great show.”
“Every opponent out there is a worthy opponent, they are always tough,” the affable Orozco said after a spirited sparring session. “Humberto Tapia, we have to show him a lot of respect and that is why we are getting ready with some great sparring with Juan Pablo “CheChe” Lopez and Ernesto “Baby” Zepeda, a good up and coming prospect and a good veteran. The preparation is there and we will be ready to perform on the 26th.”
