Welterweight titlist Andre Berto will make his fifth title defense against Freddy Hernandez on Nov. 27 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in the middle fight of an HBO “World Championship Boxing” tripleheader featuring Juan Manuel Marquez vs Michael Katsidis as the main event and junior featherweight titlist Celestino Caballero faces Jason Litzau in the opener.
Hernandez (29-1, 20 KOs), 31, hasn’t lost in five years, he lost a split decision to Golden Johnson in 2005 and has run the table since, including knockout wins against former junior welterweight titlist DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley and former junior lightweight titlist Mike Anchondo in his last two bouts, both of which were nationally televised.
Personally I think Berto is a better fighter and this should be an easy for win for him I would have been happy if he could have faced Turkish or better yet fight Shane Mosley. I was told they tried negotiation with Mosley, but failed over financial differences Berto was asking for to much, so Berto was relegated to an undercard against Hernandez.
