WBA junior welterweight (140 pounds) champion, Amir Khan, was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at his Bolton home with a mystery illness on Sunday night. Khan was undergoing extensive tests at the private Beaumont Hospital and was released on Monday. The 23-year-old Khan (23-1, 17 knockouts), who is coming off of a May 15 unanimous decision over Paulie Malignaggi, was traveling the world to celebrate his win.
Khan was in Egypt, Canada, Los Angeles, New York Dubai and in South Africa for the world cup. After returning home, he complained of having fever and feeling drained on Sunday night. Doctors think he may have been bitten by something on his travels.
Doctors told Khan and his handlers that as a precautionary measure because he was in South Africa, that they wanted to run some tests to check for viruses and few other things.
Khan is scheduled to be at ringside at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the Marquez-Diaz II fight. Rumor is that Amir Khan will fight the winner on December 11 which will possibly take place in England.
They’re saying he came down with a bad case of Handpickingitis, a very serious condition caused by being a pussy and looking to fight only lightweights and faded former champions.
I think Khan is the younger more hungrier fighter against Marquez, Marquez has been a great champion he’s not getting any younger and most likely wont be able to handle the speed of Khan, Marquez has power and if he lands it could put Khan in trouble since we know he has a somewhat week chin, but the movement, reach and speed of Khan could be perfect formula for Khan to win that fight if it ever happens.
I agree Jesus, Khan Vs Edwin Valero would have been a very interesting fight and full of fireworks.
I agree with EZ. Khan has it all. Speed, punching power, and defense. One of my dream fights was Khan vs Edwin Valero. Too bad that will never happen.
Do you feel Khan could beat a veteran fighter like Juan Marquez?
Khan is one of the fighters that have brought new fan to the game and has even the most casual fans buzzing. Hope it’s nothing serious enough that will avoid him facing the elites of the division in the not too distant future.
