Junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan continues to hunt for an April 16 opponent after Lamont Peterson and Paul McCloskey rejected offers in the low six figures. Rumor is Khan might fight WBC champion Junior Witter. However, Khan still is unwilling to fight Breidis Prescott in a rematch even though Prescott scored a 54-second knockout of Khan (24-1, 17 KOs) in September 2008. But Prescott (23-2, 19 KOs) is continuing his verbal assault to get Khan to look his way again. “Is he really so unconcerned about his legacy and reputation that he’ll continue this sad campaign to shame unknown fighters into the ring with him for chump change? Does he read what the boxing world is saying about what he’s doing,” Prescott said. “I’ve been saying I’ll be reasonable about money from the start. None of the other opponents he’s been chasing after will make for a fight half as intriguing and lucrative as our rematch would be.” Then Prescott turned his comments directly to Khan: “Amir, you still don’t have an opponent. Stop these games and act like a champion. If you’re having so much trouble making fights that no one cares about, call me and you’ll have an easy time making a fight the entire world wants to see.”

Who should Amir Khan fight next?

  1. I think you all make good points when it comes to khan. Browns wright Amir hasnt beat any a-list boxers, but then again there really arent alot of A-list fighters for Khan to fight. Now that I think about it there arent a whole lot of “A-list” fighers around in general. But anyway khan is just starting to show the skills he has and he did a pretty good job against Maidana. He did alot better than Ortiz and alot people probably consider him to be better that khan. I think Khan is looking for bigger paydays and doesnt want to go back in time with prescott. Prescott is going nowhere so he wouldnt be hi on Khans priority list. I figure if there are no big payday fights coming any time soon for Amir he might as well shut prescott up and avenge that loss.

  2. i agree mr. brown. khan hasnt prooved anything by beating a bunch of nobodys and having trouble against maidana that he had to get on his bike and run. now this with scott just shows khan aint shhhhh. always said it and i will always say it.

  3. @MrBrown HaHa Am I getting to you?I’m not in your league?Your right I’m in a league above!IL give you 1 fighter who Khan beat Maidana just cos of the 10th round? What about the 1st when Maidana was lucky to get thru it.Khan won that fight by at least 3 rounds.Yes I understand what your saying about Prescott cos if it was me I’d want to knock him the fuck out!I didn’t realise that Prescott was willing to move up in weight. So Khan should fight him cos I think he’s much better under Roach!

  4. Hey Jonny Boy…..I apologize I Was referring to Danny Mac
I read the wrong name on the boxs as I was Scrolling up in the columns.

  5. First of all Danny Mac, your not in my league too pal.
You know nothing. Lets not make excuse for Amir Khan about not making weight at
the time, he knew what he was getting himself into and he got knocked the hell out. As for Paulie Mallenaggi who gives a dam about him he’s garbage anyways what are you talking about. He’s lucky he got through Marcos Maidana you didn’t see him running like a bitch at the end and holding for dear life come on buddy…..LOL who cares about Kotelnik anybody can beat that guy are you serious.

Here’s why he should fight Prescott, and I’ll repeat this he’s not going to have any legacy whats so over if you do not rematch a guy who’s knocked you the hell out. You at lease owe to your fans the fight makes sence.

Jonny Boy someone comes in your house and punches you in the face knocks you out you mean too tell me you wouldn’t want revenge? It tells me your a punk if you don’t.
Prescott was offering to take less money too fight Amir khan again because Khan was having finding opponent what does that tell you. he’s scared plain and simple.

Lets make something clear, I’ll give credit to anyone who’s won an Olympic gold medal.

Let me ask you this question? or to anyone who wishes to answer it?

Name me one “A” Class boxer Amir Khan has beating?

  6. @Jonnyboy Yes I agree with you,If Prescott is willing to move up in weight 4 the fight and Khan can’t find an opponant then there’s no reason why he shouldn’t take this fight.I beleive under Freddie Roach Khan would destroy Prescott and then he could say he’s beat every1 he’s ever faced. It was just when ppl say he’s not a real champion and don’t give him credit 4 what he has acheived at such a young age that gets me.I suppose he will always get haters.

  7. It’s seems like Khan is ducking Prescott. We all know he wants to gain bigger purse in the future but right now he do not have any opponent yet. I guess this is the right time to accept Prescott’s challenge. It would be good for his legacy though. But if there would be a better opponent than Prescott then he should leave Prescott’s challenge.

  8. @ Danny Mac It seems that Prescott is willing to move up to Jr. Welterweight for the fight and willing to be reasonable about money why won’t Khan do it? He is at a weight where he feels comfortable at since thats the apparent excuse of why he was laid out in less then a minute. The guy that embarrassed him is having a filled day bashing Khan any chance he gets. I feel if Khan truly believed Prescott was lucky or weight was an issue (wont be now) take the fight and prove it until then I’m saying flat out Khan is ducking Prescott and believe me I’m not the only one who feels that way as you can tell by the title of the article. I honestly think Khan would win second time around. He’s making himself look bad by not doing so.

  9. @Mr Brown When Khan got knocked out he was having trouble making the weight,he is now a total different class fighter. You say he’s not s real champion? How’s that? You know nothing about boxing! He beat Kotelnik convincinly to win the title and has beat Mallinagi and Maidsna in America since! Why should he fight Prescott? He has been crap in his last couple of fights.Stop hating on Khan and give the man some credit instead of going on about his only loss 2 years ago.

  10. You got it right Jonny boy. Amir Khan is a punk. Fight the guy who knocked you the hell out. You atleast owe to your fans in Britain. If that fight where to happen it would be a money maker in England especially for his home crowd. Unfortunately if he does not take this fight he has no legacy even though he has a belt what shame. He’s not a real champion in my books.

  11. It would be logical for him to fight Prescott again and avenge that ugly loss. I heard that Khan says Prescott “is not on his radar” with the trouble he’s having finding an opponent and having the guy that laid him out so quick jawing him any chance he gets and saying they could make a deal quick. I think Khan should fight him again and honestly he does seem scared by not doing it. The only thing I can think of is Khan is hot soup right now and he’s gonna be smart and pull a Pac and take the smarter fights to continue looking good with little risk so he can make that fat payday with the Bradley fight which I will say he’d win because Bradley is too wild and Khan is a good boxer. I give him credit for fighting Maidana but to duck Prescott to me leaves me to conclude that he is afraid to fight him again because he showed Khan that we wasn’t the walk in the park as was expected that night and he won’t run that risk again when he’s close to being the biggest name in the division.
